I had my surgery VGS on 6/22/18, 2 weeks ago today. I did not have any gas pain but I had nausea for 2 days after anesthesia, which I never had with previous surgeries. I have some left supper abdominal pain from the incision that my stomach was removed. It is a small incision and the surgeon said he had to tug it out and it would be sore for a while. I have been doing Premier Protein shakes and the surgeon advanced me to soft I tolerated the scrambled egg well but can only eat an ounce and I am full. I just don’t know how I will be able to eat even a tiny meal ever again. I gained 9 lbs from fluids while in the hospital. Since returning home I have lost what I gained and lost another 14 lbs. I have lost 23 lbs in 10 days. I know the weight loss will slow since a lot was Water weight.

Maybe 3/10 (on a scale where 1 is good and 10 is bad). liquid tylenol for a while, but I was walking within about 6 hours of surgery. No real pain other than after sneezing. Fatigue was the biggest hurdle for me and it hit hard; I went back to work a week after surgery part-time and probably should not have pushed it, because 2-hour intensive demonstrations and lots of moving pieces definitely wore me all the way down.

9/10 ... very little pain. I work from home, and I didn't take any time off. About 2 weeks post op I got shaky and weak, but a B12 shot seemed to fix the problem. I was back to business travel 3 weeks post op. I should have had this surgery years ago!

I had a similar experience, although I don’t work from home. At 3 weeks, major fatigue and some weakness set in. Had to roll with it and rest. Like @sillykittyI wish I had the surgery years ago. It’s life changing. 😀❤️🌻

If not for my incisions I would never have known that anything was done to me. The only pain I had and it was minimal was from the incision below my breast bone. No gas, no nausea ever, no pain. I’ll be two months out on July 21st.

I had my procedure on June 29th and would give my recovery a 1. I had my drain taken out prior to going home the next day. I did not need any other pain medication but a Tylenol twice a day. I slept a lot the first 48 hours but did chores, etc with little discomfort outside of left shoulder pain from the gas used for the procedure. Surgery on a Friday and back to work on a Thursday (office work). Energy coming back too.

3 out of 10

Apart from some minor pain, slight Constipation and some fatigue, the recovery has been fairly smooth, so far. I didn't particularly enjoy injecting myself with blood thinners for a week though.

I've had a laparotomy (open surgery) before, and the VSG was a doddle compared to that.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
