8 days post HELP ME PLEASE

Recommended Posts

I might be paranoid but Im 8 days post op and things like yogurt, glucerna and broth (homemade without an ounce of fat) are making my stomach hurt. Its like i wish i could take alka seltzer kinda pain. Also have had liquid stool for 2 days. 3-5 times a day.

Has this happened to anyone? Is it normal or no

I'm 7 days post op and some Protein Shakes make my stomach hurt while others dont. What you are going through is normal. Just stop eating those things for awhile.

First, I'm sorry this is happening to you.

There's no need to be paranoid. That won't help you heal.

What's happening is food/liquid is coming in contact with that part of your stomach that's been cut. Nerves are firing. It doesn't feel good. I've never met a WLS patient this didn't happen to.

I hope you feel better soon. Good luck. You are not alone.

I’m one week post op. (June 4). I’m sipping flavored water alternating with Protein Drink all day. I have small amts yogurt, SF Jello and SF popsicles. I know I’m not getting enough Protein and hydration. I’m having no nausea and tolerating everything well and have lost about 6 pounds since date of surgery. BUT I’M HUNGRY??!! I thought the sleeve would kick out my hunger - when does it start?!!

I am sorry to hear that. Im not getting enough Protein and hydration either but at least im not hungry cant imagine being hungry on top of all this anxiety. Is it actual hunger and not like emotional? Have you talked to ur doc?

Everyone seems to have variations in what their doctor/hospital recommends for post op diet. I was told to stay away from dairy and milk products until day 10 because they cause nausea and stomach upset. I'm wondering if the dairy in the yogurt and Protein Shakes are giving you these issues.

Buy some flavored electrolytes to put in your Water. They help when you have the runs and are not getting that much liquid - also help even out blood pressure.

I was hungry 2 days after surgery! I was so confused about this. I was HUNGRY all the time! I thought you were not supposed to feel hunger with the smaller stomach but apparently that is not the case with everyone.

I am 12 days post surgery and the good news is that I have found that now that I can eat things with more substance I get fuller faster. So I do get satisfied with a lot less. The 10 day liquid only period is quite difficult from my experience but then again, different doctors and hospitals seem to give variations on post op diets. I did liquid only. You just gotta push through the liquid only phase and know that you have something to look forward to after that period. The edge gets taken off the hunger as you progress through phases 2 and 3

same happened to me, but it should end soon. try to sip liquids slower and in smaller amounts. that pain will go away too. i'm 12 days out and all of those things are gone now. hang in there!

What exactly are you still experiencing? Pain when you eat?

Gatorade is recommended but I personally don't drink it because of the artificial ingredients and colouring. I buy EmergenC Vitamin packets and mix it into my Water with crystal light pure. If you are having loose stool I also recommend you add an electrolyte tablet into your water mix asap. I ordered the electrolyte tablet off of Amazon

Nuun Active Hydrating Drink Tablets, juice Box Mix, 4 count were the ones I got off Amazon

What Surgery? Answers will change depending on your surgery type.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
