I can’t believe I’m saying this because I’ve wanted this so bad that it seems like a vivid dream but I already got my date May 14th and this is my 4th day on the liquid diet [emoji123][emoji51]

Are you still going through your clearances?

Yo-Yo Girl from New York City [emoji4]

Congrats!!! Where did you get the idea to purchase baby food, small forks etc. None of that would have crossed my mind...

Yes, still going thru clearances. Psych eval on 5/11 4th doctor appointment on 5/16(last thing I need before pre authorization).
Stress test June 4th
sleep study device being mailed to me next week.
EGD[emoji818]
1st nutrition session[emoji818]

I’ve got a case of the Optifast ready to drink shakes, baby cups, plates, bowls and silverware, unflavored Unjury powder, hail nail and skin Vitamins. I already have fun measuring spoons and cups and an immersion blender. My doc gave me Vitamin samples to try after surgery since things will taste different and they don’t want me to buy things I won’t like later. Cases of bottled Water, boxes of crystal light and broth out the wazoo. [emoji23] I’m skipping the scale for now. After a year of nutritional visits (and a lifetime of dieting) I know what 3oz looks like. I’ve also already had my pcp and psychiatric doc call in all my non weight related meds that I’ll keep taking in either the ODT or liquid form. My doc also provides a huge binder with everything you could possibly want to know about anything and since I’ve been going through it compulsively for 18 months, I feel like I’m covered. I’m not sure if there’s anything else I need. Well, I can’t think of anything anyway. I’ve also got the great Weight Loss Surgery for Dummies book and I’ve been tracking everything on the Baritastic app.
If I’m missing anything you guys think is crucial, please let me know, cause surgery is Thursday. [emoji4]

Don’t feel duped! My place is just crazy! But it’s cool. We have monthly support groups for pre and post op and even shopping trip meetings at Whole Foods and stuff. I have terrible anxiety so i love how thorough they are. I did so much research on doctors and programs and everything. I thought for sure I’d have to go to a big city somewhere to have this done. And lo and behold I lucked out with a surgery center of excellence that people from all over go to! Right in my backyard!
I lived in Gainesville previously and we of course had Shands there, but I never really vibed with any of the docs there. Took a long time, and a HUGE amount of luck, that I’m going where I’m going.
Anyway, if you’re comfortable with your team, all the binders in the world won’t matter. When you find the right team and have the right support, everything will work out great. We’re all going to be on the losers bench soon!

Thank you!!!! If you ever want a section sent to you, message me. I’ll try to get it scanned. It’s got advice on everything from pre-surgery diet to using baby silverware and place ware and sample diets with goals and stuff. It’s nuts! But as a person diagnosed with serious anxiety, this book and all the info is what I needed to feel secure.
Do you have your date yet?

Yea, I feel duped too!! Not 100% settled on my doctor. Althought I vibe with her personality and appreciate the length of time she takes to answer my questions I wish her program was more detailed. I would love a list of the tests required. Didn't know about any of it until I progressed thru the process. Knowing I would need a EGD that would cost $3k would have been helpful. I'm calling my insurance weekly asking questions about my coverage and costs. I'm finding out different hospitals charge differently for the same proceedure AND that I should look for a COE facility. Ok, most of that is off subject....🙂 but my point is I need to wrap my head around the tools (food scales, cups, books, apps) etc. that can help me pre and post op.

Nope that's it. My suregon didn't say I had to see my primary doc. I had a bunch of blood test, and metabolic testing (breathed in a tube for 20 min) it told me how many calories to eat in order to lose weight etc.

I had my surgery with them on april26th.

I made Bone Broth ahead of time and froze it into ice cubes.... I add it to the powdered Protein Soups for extra protein.

I also found some small two oz condiment containers with lids that I can put protein powders in for on the go.

I recommend a body pillow and extra pillows for first week... or a recliner.

I made a travel bag in a pouch with those collapsible measuring cups a baby spoon, a cocktail fork, a couple Water flavor pkgs, a 2 oz container of Protein Powder.< br>

Travel bag is a great idea. Ive been hinting around about a recliner to my bf.... fingers crossed!

I've collected a 2qt crock pot for making individual Soups, (that can be frozen and rewarmed easily), personal blender, shaker bottles, Vitamins (1 month worth only), True Lemon Water enhancers, and a small scoop for measuring serving sizes, (it's slightly bigger then a melon baller). Next on my list is a food processor. 20180422_155134.jpg

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
