off program and gained back 21 pounds

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have been off program for a year and sad to say, gained 21 of my 59 pounds back!! :49_triumph:

I feel so bad and need a restart. I do still workout and drink Water only but not on top of good Proteins and veggies.

Need some support as I have friends who had the surgery a year after me and they are almost at goal and I feel like a failure.

HELP!!

I haven't experienced this after surgery, but from all the diets I back-slid on: Go back to tracking every bite of food that goes into your mouth. If you've stopped, get back on the 30-30-30 plan. Don't eat within 3 hours of bedtime. No alcohol. Always get your Protein in first.

Don't despair. Your "tool" is still in place. You can recover from this!

cut out the added sugars and simple carbs - bread, chips

get that Protein in

more veggies and leafy greens less anything from center of store - more from the 3 walls - fruits and veggie - meats- dairy

i am sure you know the routine.

no snacking after dinner -12 hrs from last calorie in before first calorie of the day.

good luck and welcome back

msjg....may I ask what diet you followed just after your surgery when you were losing weight well? How many calories were you eating each day during your loss phase, and for how long?

Hard to do, but remember you are choosing to gain weight back. You may not realize it, but everything you put in your mouth is a choice. You didn't sit down one day and say I want to gain weight, but every time you take a bite of the wrong stuff or too much you choose to do that.

Nothing is easy about it, otherwise none of us would be here. I find the first thing to do to get back on track is to be accountable. Track every single bite, count calories and then it will likely be very obvious what needs to change. Unfortunately it's harder once you're out a while from the sleeve and it's more like a regular diet. I'm personally going through this now and being accountable has helped me get back to where I should be in terms of eating.

Don't give up. It's a life long battle and you haven't lost

Thank you everyone for your help!

I have made bad choices and now have return to program.

I am tracking my food and this week was a tough one with a lot of bad food on display at work. I didn't touch one thing bad on the table and had my ammo in my lunch bag to snack on.

I need to stay focused and return to this site more than I did in the past.

THANK YOU for letting me come back!!!

I was high on Protein, veggies and then fruit. Very low on carbs. I didn't count calories so I can't answer that. I was sleeve in January 2016 and by June had lost the 59 pounds.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
