Has anyone else had to do the 2 weeks of Optifast before surgery? Today is day one for me and I can already tell I’m going to be hangry. My PCP has kept me on my metformin, glipizide and Victoza. I’ve caught myself getting shaky three times today. If you did the Optifast diet, did your doctor keep you on all your diabetic meds?

And please tell me it gets better and I won’t be hungry for the next 13 days [emoji23]

I had to do my two week pre-op diet with Optifast. It is unpleasant at best but a rite of passage. About the only flavor I could stand was chocolate. vanilla and strawberry you could practically taste the fakeness. My endocrinologist pulled me off of insulin when I first started out. About a week into the diet, I was also pulled off of Victoza as I continued to run low.

Good to know! I called my doctor after the second reading of Do you mind if I ask if you also lost weight on the Optifast as well as shrinking your liver?

I had to do 4 weeks Optifast and it was pretty tough. I will say that it did get better (much better) after the first 5 days.

It is important to hang in there. This diet will help you to lose a few pounds plus shrink your liver making your surgery safer.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
