wonderful susan!!! much congrats on the NSV!!!!!!!!!

* hope all is well KC!

* ebony - take care of the knee.....no reason to get a more serious injury not babying it some!

* michelle - okra is touchy ; try pickeling them??

ok i am a bit giddy....LOL:blushing:

* just had my barium - band is fine, no issues

* got a fill - 2ccs'

* i LOST weight w/barely any fill at all

i say this, cause if you ever pop in on the food thread i EAT A LOT!!! but those spinning classes paid off:)

* my surgeon was just overly complimentary to me in my shorts/tank/flip flops - said he can tell i'm serious and wanted to know what i eat. so i told him, he wants me to post a recp to his monthly flyer each mo. i asked if i can do it under an alias & he laughed. i was serious though., we'll see.

off my cloud & onto houseworks:(:crying:

That's all GREAT news, Lu! I vaguely remember hearing you got unfilled, but did it have to do with the sinus drainage issues you had a month or two back? Or were there band complications??

I guess the :crying: is unnecessary since you've been told you have no complications.

And WOW, weight LOST with the unfill??? You are my newest hero.

Oh, I also ate like a slobbering pig while I was away. Won't EVEN get on a scale. I don't know what it is about vacations and becoming a brain-dead idiot where I'm concerned, but it gets old and makes me feel like a failure.

PJTP...Beth's back! Yay! :crying:

Yes, you heard right - had three interviews (one screening, two with muckity-mucks) for a new position. Hoping to hear something this week, but I'm not in the office today - severe stiff neck (cannot turn to look behind me, felt funny driving).

The prior situation with BB telling me to do one thing, and Mgr telling me another was never really discussed again - they just didn't say anything, which makes me think they'll probably blame me, but I DON'T CARE...I've got written evidence he told me to do it.

I'm so glad you're back...though I know you needed a vacation! Hope all goes flawlessly with your hubby's surgery - it must be scary for him. I hope it relieves his pain and then y'all can get back to living life.

Good wishes for school, too - I'm 4 weeks into my latest term and doing well. Had a bit of a hitch in one class, but I've conquered it and my grade is back up where it should be...

Prayers still going up for your DDad - hope all turns out good for him.

LuluC - thanks for the concern about my knee. When we moved into our former house (multi-story, built into a hill, LOTS of stairs to climb) I injured my left knee when we were carrying TONS of boxes to the new place. Until I lost weight with the band, I would NEVER have even thought to try and run anywhere. Now, doing the C25k program, I'm getting plenty of rest, so it's not really bothering me. I think I may be prone to arthritis, though, because humid days (barometric pressure?) make it ache a bit. Once I get going and warm up, it's fine. I even sprint at the end! :crying:

Took some ibuprofen for my stiff neck - it helps, but doesn't get rid of it totally. I think I need a new pillow on my bed. I sleep mostly on my side and back. When it's hot, on my back for better air flow. I think that's part of my problem...it's hard to find a pillow that's supportive in both directions.

Band is tight today for some unknown reason - haven't eaten much all day. It's okay, though - maybe it will help me hit Onederland by the end of the week!

You are my newest hero.

thank you beth!

my dr used the same words today "said i was his hero" and i got goose dimples. cause when i had to stand on the scale i told him i gained - and he said that would be normal .. but no i dropped 3lbs and i'm in PMS mode.

i went from 7.2ccs to 1.5 in a wks time - i had an infection in my ear that went to my chest and i had swollen up around my band from coughing too much.

ebony - i have ankylosing spondylitis - spinal arthritis.

pain is there; but i have found i have more issues when NOT active vs decent activity. arthritis is an issue that can't be cured only managed - my PCP suggests exercise; so i do it. don't want to be my mom who couldn't walk & chew gum at the same time - never active in her life, and is now held together w/pins due to RA.

Wow, Lulu, you have got to be feeling lighter than a feather in more ways than one! I thought it was some sort of infection but wasn't sure if I had missed something else.

So are they just going to have to re-fill you slowly as if you were starting over?

Though it's got to feel GREAT to be holding your own during this time!! I'm just so happy for you that I can't even tell ya...

Sounds like everyone had a fairly good weekend. Glad to hear it. Everyone in pain, I can relate. I spent way too much time on my feet yesterday and my back is killing me today. But then, it always hurts so nothing too new there.

Thanks to all who "friended" me on FB. Still not sure who Rhonda (I think) is. PM anyone? FB is gonna take me a little time to get used to it. And I'm really not at my best with the low blood sugar thing. Doc says back off on diabetes meds a little so maybe that'll do it. I'm just sorta slow and sluggish. Forgive me, love me, typos and rambles and all .

I'm not hungry. It's really weird. Did y'all have that when you were pre-oping? I'm thirsty and would kill for a cold Diet Coke but.... I'm so not a fan of Crystal Light. I never have trouble drinking enough Water though so I guess I'm lucky there.

Welcome home, Beth. Lulu, good for you at doc's office! Ebony, sorry you're in pain. Slim, what's going on in your life? Those are the posts I remember :crying:. Love ya all though :crying:. More later.....if I can summon the energy to type .

exactly - i'm at the same fill level right now as when i woke up from surgery = 3.5cc's.

he said i should never have to go above 5; but told me today that maintaining is even trickier than losing.....i think he's right.

 Just how many Cereal box tops do I need for my FB decoder ring?

This may take awhile. And it seems that cereal is NOT a clear liquid.

I bet he is right.

I think the same thing even happens on Weight Watchers -- the losing seems easy, but you don't find as many maintaining their weight.

I'm at 5.2 and feel I am at a sweet spot now. I'm sure it might change as I lose more weight, but for once I didn't need a fill when I went in a couple weeks ago.

PJTP...I' m back again!

Just went for a walk, so now I'm all fired up and have lots of energy!

LuluC - you are amazing...like Beth, you are my new she-ro! Imagine - maintaining and even LOSING on less fill! Maybe someday I'll get there, but right now, I'm glad I've got Jillian (my band) kicking my butt...

TPG - You're doing fine...those diabetes meds can definately make ya loopy - been there, done that! It's funny - when I was less successful at controlling my blood sugar (readings above 200) I would get "spacey" at 100. Now, I have been controlling it better - especially since I was banded - and I don't get loopy until I'm around 60, which is really low. My doc says I'm doing great - I want to get off the meds!

I'm feeling a little hungry, so I'm going to have a snack...don't wanna eat too much, though, I'm planning grilled chicken caesar salad for dinner...

That is awesome! To find no problems and you lost weight?!?!?! You are Superwoman!

Gird yer loins, I'm BAAACK!

About time! I am so glad to see you! I am sorry to hear about your DH (surgery and possible job) and your dad. Sending positive thoughts your way.

We should just start the fan club now!

I hope you are able to get the blood sugar drops in check. I know that is an awful feeling. After the first day or so of the liquid diet, I wasn't hungry either. I remember calling and asking if I had to drink all that was on my list.

I wanna be FBed by TPG...

I want to be FBed by Beth...

I just love it when you talk dirty, baby :w00t:.

TPG

I wasn't hungry, but I was drinking Protein Shakes and water continuously -- I didn't want to chance getting hungry. I did get pretty snarky by day 2 or 3 -- I had 2 weeks of pre-op liquids.< /p>

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
