I can't describe what his food looks like. It looks like something you wouldn't even think about eating. It looks awful. He works. She controls the money (I haven't figured out how she did it). He gets $20 every two weeks to buy whatever he needs (gas, lunch, tobacco) then comes to work with this food that looks like it is about to grow green fur. It is awful.

PJTP...

We should add that to the "You know you're a Bandster..." thread...

You know you're a Bandster when...you eat the same thing 4 days in a row because cooking a "normal" size portion means 4 days of leftovers!

:eek::wink::w00t:

I can't go past two days with left overs. I shudder at the thought.

Slim - I think you jinxed my coffee pot - last night it started hissing and spitting and spewing the coffee everywhere except into the pot. Guess a new one is needed ....

My mom used to run hot Water w/a little bleach thru hers on a monthly basis. Then run clean Water thru to rinse out the bleach. She'd have pots for years!

I. hate. snow. $:tt2::eek::mad2:#*&()%*&(#$*)($

Monday morning. I'm cranky and cold and wet.

I'm sorry. I'm a strange one and happen to like snow.

Good morning all! :) I'm just glad to be at work. Another round of layoffs has started and I just pray I'm not one of them.

I really, really hope you're not on the "list."

I hope the migrain is better. I think I need another small fill, but I am trying to tough it out. I am scared of being too tight. Right now, I can eat anything as long as I go slow.

It's better. Meds and a good night's sleep always helps. I'm hoping I'm not clustering tho. Takes a lot outta me. I'm "ghosting" one right now and hoping it doesn't go full-blown again.

I can def eat anything in quantity right now AND I don't have to go too slow. I'm going in on Thurs. afternoon. I gained 1.7 this last week after losing 3 the week before. :w00t: I hate the up and down stuff.

Good morning Bandsters! PJTP...

Had a lovely weekend (until Sunday - see below).

Glad to hear you had such a great weekend but I'm so sorry that it ended badly. Travel is no fun when it turns into a nightmare!

heartfire - how do you manage your Migraines? hope your feeling better

Thanks, last night's Migraine is gone but sometimes I cluster for a few days. I'll get one everyday and have to use more meds than I like. I'm "ghosting" one right now (where it's sorta there but not really) so I think I'm doomed. I take Maxalt. It's a melt-away tablet that you put on your tongue. They work really well for the most part. My triggers are environmental and hormonal. If the barometric pressure changes too drastically (like now) that also triggers them too. Weather's been nice but we're supposed to storm in the next day or 2.

Oh yeah what they brought me back.....Salt water taffy! I can feel the lbs already!

Mmmm, taffy! :cool2: Love that stuff!

Still no word on my possible BIG news.:frown: Hopefully soon.

I hope you get word soon too. Best wishes.

Hey everyone, just popping in to say "hi" before I take a little nap. I am still exhausted from all the flying yesterday.

Glad you're back! Hope all went well.

It's a nice sunny 74 here in Oregon today.

We're doing the same but are expecting a storm in the next day or 2, are you supposed to get that one too? I haven't been paying attention lately.

PJTP - Why am I bothered by this?

Because we do what we're supposed to do and it gets on our nerves when others don't, yet get the rewards for their laziness. I'm sorry. And I have no advice.

Exactly. That is why I try to look over this complete butthole that I work with. He has a terrible home life. I figure he takes out his frustrations at work because he is completely henpecked at home. He eats 4 day old food or just cans of Beans for lunch while his DW eats out. Go figure.

Sounds like he needs a new wife, or even better, a bachelor pad all his own! LOL!

I love multi-quote!!! LOL!

UGH! Gotta figure out lunch and go to the grocery store. Yuck! Normally not a problem but I have NO idea what to cook.

Sounds like an abusive relationship to me...I wonder if he is paying "penance" for something, or she's just that obnoxious?

Ya almost want to call a domestic violence hotline for the guy, but I'm afraid they wouldn't take it seriously...I almost feel for the guy, and I don't even know him!

I know my DH wouldn't take that for very long...but it's taken him a while to get that way. Let's just say the ex-bi*ch did a real head job on him, and I had to do some repair work to his self-esteem. No one should be treated that way...

It gets worse. She is a house wife, but he does the cooking and cleaning. He has to call her for permission to change his off days at work. It is a very strange relationship. I don't know if he is paying penance for something, but at this rate, I would think he has paid in full.

It is. That is probably why I avoid eating lunch with him and another co-worker. I want to enjoy my lunch and can't do that watching him eat that food.

Ummm, those are NOT presents!!

Well, they can be if you both agree. But you have to agree.

For the taking pictures, I have two collages on my OH profile page of my month-by-month pictures. It's interesting that the months with the bigger weight loss don't have the most dramatic difference in the pictures. That's because I wasn't exercising then like I am now.

(I don't know why the link is called Default Login and not "Before and After Pictures".

Thanks, Slim...DD really is a wonderful kid - no one's perfect, and we've had our moments, but I am torn between wanting the best for her (getting out and spreading her wings) and not wanting to lose my friend! I know I'll be a teary mess when she leaves...it'll be hard not to make HER cry...we are both puddles at times.

Aw, Eb, I know we're not the same as having DD, but you have us as your friends here... :(

Beth - we use bottled not tap Water so theoretically that shouldn't be the problem, but it is worth a try

Yeah, I dunno... I think they still put stuff in the water that can gunk it up. If you don't want to spend the money for a new machine, it's worth a Saturday or Sunday working a couple pots of the stuff through it to see how it works. :(

Thinking about another timeshare in the Richmond, VA area where DD will be in school - then I can go visit her every year if I want, plus I have "roots" in that area...so it would be nice to have a 'home base' to do genealogical research from...

Omg, DO!!! And you do genealogy too?? So do I -- or, well, I DID before I moved here and started working...

PJTP -

Why am I bothered by this? Princess is back at work today after her leave...arrived at 11am. Think she'll actually work her 8 hours today? Um, no.

You know, while she was preggers it was one thing: doc visits, morning sickness and dragging because you're bloated and tired - I GET it. I've been there. Last 2 months of pregnancy she was lucky to get in by 10 each morning and leave right after 4:30 (the boss leaves at 4, how convenient.)

I know what time she leaves because I carpool w/DH who works ungodly hours and will be here an extra hour usually each day.

But, she's the golden child here and can get away with that, even though I back her up and see all the mistakes she makes.

So why? Why am I so bothered by this, and how do I let it go? She's fun! She's really cool, and she's the kind of person you can hang out with at lunch and have a great time with.

But, damn it! Work your full 8 like I do!

Help! I need a mantra to get over the jealous/anger/indignant and self righteousness that I feel.

My job had a golden-haired child too. Thing was, she's a flaming gila-monster bitch, so I left. Decided life is too short to put up with idiots who have a sense of entitlement.

A mantra? "I think you're great, but do your eight!" :(

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
