Summer 2018 Surgery Buddies Check In Here!

I would love to make some surgery buddies now so we can go through all the pre-op requirements together and stick through surgery and beyond. Anyone else already know their surgery will occur this summer?

My surgery is going to fall in the July or August time frame. Most of this is dependent upon checking all my surgeon's boxes, the rest is dependent upon my financing since I'm self-pay. I'll be getting the sleeve.

I love my surgeon and feel really lucky to have found him. So far the pre-op stuff has gone smoothly, but I am just at the beginning stages. I've scheduled all my evals and classes and attended my first weight loss class last week. I found it to be mildly helpful. It was certainly geared more toward those that hadn't already read through the surgery binder and/or those that had no clue what healthy eating consisted of. I'm hoping future classes focus more on the post-op eating.

My first visit with my PCP about this surgery is next week as that's the soonest I could get in to see her. I'm hoping she'll be supportive as my surgeon knew of her when I told him that's who I see. But if I have to find another PCP so be it.

My first dietician appt is next week and psych eval is the week after that. I only have to get these three meetings out of the way to schedule my surgery. So I'm anxious to get that done!

I'm excited to hear from others along the same timeline as me!

Not at all, and I keep getting headaches which I would normally take alieve for but I’m stuck with Tylenol
I have the headaches too! I’m not hungry at this point but it’s getting harder to drink my required protein. And I’d usually take excedrin for the headaches but I know the rule is Tylenol. Which sucks because Tylenol has never in the history of ever worked for any kind of headache or pains I’ve had ??‍♀️ Good luck! We’re almost at the finish line to start our new lives
I’m one day before you. I’m June 27th at 11:30am

You’ll be out of this liquid misery a little sooner than me, lol. June 27th sounds like a great day for a rebirth ? My surgeon says 3:15pm but the hospital said they have to call me the day before to give me my actual time because surgery times often change for earlier than originally anticipated

It’s to a point that the smell of food makes me nauseous for some reason. Like I have to leave the room until the smell airs out. And I can’t lie, I’m a little cranky because I miss the ability to chew ? and if one more person calls me talking about the delicious meal they just had I’m going to explode! ?
Omg, this is so my husband. He's so nice to not eat in front of me, but he's talking about food all the time, unknowingly I suspect. I just say, yes dear, sound great, wish I could sympathize but nope, let me just drink my meal , or even offer him a sip.

I’d die, like all of that stuff sounds amazing right now. But I’m glad you’ve been able to stay on the straight and narrow. I’ve had people telling me it’s okay to cheat a little. I’m like “nope, I take this surgery and this diet very seriously. I will not cheat!” And I haven’t, I’m proud really, lol
That's the way I am, I figure I started this in December and I'm just a idle over a week to go, I can do this!! Looking at the big picture when I get to the other side. Glad you're able to do this struck by the diet, prepping us for after surgery.

It gets better, I'm off Alieve too. They told me Tylenol too which doesn't work as well. Good luck
It only took 3 full days on the hospital since Wednesday surgery date. I’m finally home. Thank goodness
I got my surgery date set for Aug 6! I’m so excited!
I’m gonna be late July/early August. I’m brand new here. I’m meeting the surgeon July 3rd for my consult. I’d love to have some surgery buddies along for the ride.

Congrats and keep us posted on your date. This is the right to make some surgery buddies. There is even a list (which you can find on page 19) that has all of the members and their dates and tentative dates
Almost there, just a few more days of this diet to survive...then comes the struggle to get in enough proteins and liquids, lolimage-0.0019073486328125.thumb.jpg.63b6f602e81f4abc990a1691bc056fac.jpg
Just FYI the struggle is real. Earlier today I sipped too much water too fast and almost threw up.

Is anyone here doing their surgery at NYU Langone in NYC?

Update: almost done with day 6. Still have a protein shake to go. Currently trying to finish my yogurt. I froze it for a texture change which has helped a lot
