Summer 2018 Surgery Buddies Check In Here!

I would love to make some surgery buddies now so we can go through all the pre-op requirements together and stick through surgery and beyond. Anyone else already know their surgery will occur this summer?

My surgery is going to fall in the July or August time frame. Most of this is dependent upon checking all my surgeon's boxes, the rest is dependent upon my financing since I'm self-pay. I'll be getting the sleeve.

I love my surgeon and feel really lucky to have found him. So far the pre-op stuff has gone smoothly, but I am just at the beginning stages. I've scheduled all my evals and classes and attended my first weight loss class last week. I found it to be mildly helpful. It was certainly geared more toward those that hadn't already read through the surgery binder and/or those that had no clue what healthy eating consisted of. I'm hoping future classes focus more on the post-op eating.

My first visit with my PCP about this surgery is next week as that's the soonest I could get in to see her. I'm hoping she'll be supportive as my surgeon knew of her when I told him that's who I see. But if I have to find another PCP so be it.

My first dietician appt is next week and psych eval is the week after that. I only have to get these three meetings out of the way to schedule my surgery. So I'm anxious to get that done!

I'm excited to hear from others along the same timeline as me!

That’s awesome! I have three weeks...

3 weeks is a long time. I have just one week of pureed foods and then two weeks of soft foods.

I updated the member list to show my new surgery date. (Still have to do my signature).

So @ElanBri we are tied together for real now!

And you know what makes this pre-op liquid diet extra fun? A 5 day visit from your mother in law! -_-

I just found out I will be coming home on pureed and be on that till my two week post op.

That's awesome to skip the additional liquid phases!

I can see that. I'm sure you'll be fine if it's doctor ordered!

I'd like to go straight to the mashed potato and gravy stage. :P

And while I'm on a rant let me just say men are so flipping dense sometimes.

I blasted my husband again this morning because of his BS 'I might not be able to take you home for the hospital' statement. He apologized and said he would talk to his boss.

That was at 9am this morning. I don't hear from him ALL day...except just now at 4pm he leaves me a voicemail about some inane stuff and then says "Hope you had a good day" Ummm...I would have had a good day if you had given me ANY indication that you were actually going to step up and be there for me in my time of need. UGH!!!

Mine is working the day of my surgery and coming after he gets off. I know he would make me nuts and more nervous beforehand, so it's for the best. He can't stand 10 mins in a waiting room let alone hours.

And Tomkitten is the, opposite, since the hospital is 50 miles away, he wants to,go with me. Told him I'm not sure, they have rooming - in but I will ask.

Gas pain is no joke! Lungs were clear before going in yesterday. Liver was small and not fatty (OMG!). But man, this gas and spasm pain. And now that I am home, that coughing. Wow.

Thanks for checking up on me. Ended up getting my mom sick so... still someone sick in the house!

Glad you were well enough for surgery. I'm getting so scared of this gas pain.

You're welcome. Wishing you a super speedy, pain free recovery!

Started my 2 week liquid diet today and boy have I been whiny!

Having a little trouble on day# 9. I can't go any more than 3 hours without a snack or meal, I get weak and feel like I am going to pass out. Never had diabetes although I should be at risk because of family history. is 1000 calories enough to keep blood sugar up? I'm sitting down don't think,I should do my 15 m8nutes of walking and burn any more of my candle right now. Have other people had this ? I'm on 3-4 shakes , lunch salad, dinner frozen entree⬇300,calories ⬇30 carbs, and I fruit snack, apple, orange , ? or 3/4 c berries unsweetened. And 64+ oz varied liquids, no calorie, no caffeine.

How much protein are you getting in? I can't go 3 hours without anything either. About 2 to 2.5 hours during the day seems to be my limit.

@ChellNCit’s tough. I started on July 30th. Went from drinking 5 protein shakes to 3 just upped the amount of whey protein I put in my water bottles. By day 2 I had a bad headache. I can eat only green veggies but as many as I want. Day 3-4 had me running to the bathroom. It gets better. I feel pretty good now. Drink lots of water. Snack on sugar free popsicles. Before you know it it will be surgery time.
