I would love to make some surgery buddies now so we can go through all the pre-op requirements together and stick through surgery and beyond. Anyone else already know their surgery will occur this summer?

My surgery is going to fall in the July or August time frame. Most of this is dependent upon checking all my surgeon's boxes, the rest is dependent upon my financing since I'm self-pay. I'll be getting the sleeve.

I love my surgeon and feel really lucky to have found him. So far the pre-op stuff has gone smoothly, but I am just at the beginning stages. I've scheduled all my evals and classes and attended my first weight loss class last week. I found it to be mildly helpful. It was certainly geared more toward those that hadn't already read through the surgery binder and/or those that had no clue what healthy eating consisted of. I'm hoping future classes focus more on the post-op eating.

My first visit with my PCP about this surgery is next week as that's the soonest I could get in to see her. I'm hoping she'll be supportive as my surgeon knew of her when I told him that's who I see. But if I have to find another PCP so be it.

My first dietician appt is next week and psych eval is the week after that. I only have to get these three meetings out of the way to schedule my surgery. So I'm anxious to get that done!

I'm excited to hear from others along the same timeline as me!

Wow your doing awesome! I had my first dr visit 3/28 and then had my psych eval 4/4 and EGD on 4/11 now I am just waiting on the office ladies to send all my stuff for insurance and then I get a date which is killing me not to know! Lol I’m trying not to drive them crazy . I still have a few things to check off yet but it all hinges on when my date will be since it has to be with in a few weeks of surgery:/ I am hoping for June but who knows at this point. Good Luck with all your stuff! I hope it keeps moving along for you!! Oh I almost forgot I am getting the sleeve too:)

Do you know how long it takes to get a date once your insurance reviews and approves? I see such varied timelines on these boards.

I started my 6 mos of pcp visits in Feb. I had my nutrition consult and psych evaluation last week. My final pcp visit is mid July. From everything I've been told surgery should be 4-6 wks after that. I'm guessing late August or early September. I am planning to have RnY procedure. I would love to have people to compare notes with along the way!

Absolutely - The more the merrier!! I think that I only have to do one visit with my dietitian. But my classes are once a month which I think is crazy since they are only 30-40 min long. I suppose for insurance purposes they want to stretch it out to be sure it's something someone really wants to do.

Yay! How was your psych eval? I'm reading some very different experiences here.

My psych evaluation only took 30-40 mins. He discussed medical and mental health history, asked about support people I would have. He asked about my eating patterns and discussed new ways to deal with stress, celebrations, boredom and other causes of overeating. He also brought up that alot of people get depressed and upset that their spouse and children don't notice the weight loss because of seeing you daily and how to not take it personal. He actually had alot of good tips for different situations. I found it very helpful.

I just finished my last requirement this morning. Now I have to wait for my psych evaluation to be sent to my surgeon and they will send everything to insurance. I'm hoping for a June surgery date.

Awesome Trixie! How did all your pre-op requirements go? Did you feel they were beneficial?

Once you get approved it’s usually with in two months you have surgery.. my dr said 6-8 weeks from the last visit but it’s already been almost 4 and I don’t have a date yet:/

I have had 4 or my 6 required office visits with my doctor. I've completed my psych eval, nutritional assessment, had test run/Blood work/EKG/Upper GI and 1 of 2 nutrition courses.. So I hope paperwork will be getting submitted for approval early June, bc my last office visit is Late May... Anxiously awaiting.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
