Joined To Meet New People That’s On The Same Path As Me

Recommended Posts

So I joined this Bariatric Pals Community thinking that it would be awesome to talk and fellow people that are going through the same thing as me. But for some reason I find it hard to join in on the conversations. I feel like I’m butting in on other peoples conversations. Like who’s this newbie trying to talk to us? Does anyone else feel that way? Or is it just me? Because Im definitely not that way in person. I’m always talking to everyone around me no matter who it is. But for some reason I feel differently on this.

Macpower you can always talk to me. Don't feel you can't join in, I have been on BP maybe 4.5-5 months, in all that time I have met up with only 1 person who resented my insertion into conversations. She, I'm sorry to say, was a real piece of work, oh I'm nice enough to wish her well but our virtual paths have not intersected again. She spoke of me in what I felt a disparaging manner, she may live her life as she wishes, but I hope our paths do not touch. Most people are very kind on here, if they sense you are a. Newbie that will try to help if they can. We all come in with different life experiences, some problems I found answers for in the outside world, to help someone I tap into those as well as what I've learned here on Bariatric Pal. I usually admit,if I've got a wrong slant on things but I tend to be usually right. Most people will not resent you, if they do it's their problem, not yours. If I misspell,it's not so much a lack of education as 2 other things, 1 my smartphone is too smart, it enjoys auto correcting and 60% it skews things so they make no sense 2 I think faster than i text, my mind is always bouncing forward while my fingers lag behind. Makes for strange reading at times. Hey stay easy ,stay breezy and don't sweat the small stuff.[emoji6]

I kind of felt the same way when I first joined in January. It helped to start small, by mostly lurking and occasionally commenting on threads directly related to my experience (such as those with similar questions), and I've gradually expanded from there. I'm still not the kind of person who will comment on every post, and I stick to portions of the forum relevant to my experience (for example, I'm a female who had the bypass, so I stay out of the forums for other specific surgeries and the guys' room, among others), but overall I comment a bit more freely now.

Thank you! I guess your right, you kinda have to just butt in to talk. I enjoy talking to people that are going through the same things as I am. Because the people in your everyday life have no idea what it’s like! Especially this pre-op diet! They have NO CLUE!

Sprinkles1.....i agree 100%. I am starving on this pre op diet. Has anyone given you any advice on what to do? It’s going to be a long 2 weeks.

Macpower....I am new to this as well but enjoy connecting with others who are going through this.

Hmm... not really. I can't think of any advice that was given to me other than "Suck it up and get it done with!" it's hard, but you gotta do what you gotta do! Mine is 4 weeks of pure heck!!! 10 days down out of 30 and 11lbs lost since starting.

I wish I could just eat something. Idk if I'll last 3 more weeks... it's torture. What's your pre op consist of?

Yes making connections with people that are going through the same things is awesome! I’m glad I found this place!

Is your pre-op diet all liquid? Or can you eat anything for dinner?

What is everyone’s pre-op diet like? Mine is just two weeks.

Breakfast : Protein Shake
Snack : Protein Shake
Lunch : Protein shake
Snack : Protein Shake
Dinner : 3oz of lean meat and 2.5 cups of salad with fat free dressing. BUT I find this to be just a freaking tease!!! I mean come on! How can you expect me to eat just that for dinner when all Iv had all day we’re Protein Shakes? !?! So I honestly have been skipping the food and just drink another Protein Shake for dinner.

My pre op liquid diet is for 2 weeks. I can only eat cottage cheese or Greek yogurt 3 times a day. I have to drink 3 Protein Drinks a day. Unlimited sugar free Jello, Popsicle or broth. And today, my last day was Clear Liquids only. At 4, I had to drink citrate of magnesia. And I have to be at the hospital at 530 in the morning.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
