Anyone use Dr Guillermo Alvarez?

Recommended Posts

I'm researching potential surgeons and was curious if anyone's had surgery with Dr Alvarez lately? Or within the past 2 years. I'd love to know your experience.

My cousin had surgery with him last month, and has nothing but positive things to say. She personally knew a number of people that all raved about him and his practice as well.

Hi, I don't know if you had made a decision for which doctor to use. I'm scheduled for VSG surgery with Dr. Alvarez on June 15th. From all my research he is the best in the business, I can let you know how it goes so you can make an informed decision.

I will be using him in the fall hopefully. I have heard nothing but great things and know 3 people who have personally went to him. Check out his “ask Dr A” shows on YouTube. He also has Snapchat and instagram that he and his psychologist and dietitian post on daily. Very informative things. Check him out!

Update!! I did have my Surgery on June 15th and it was a great experience from start to finish. I went alone and I was a little scared, but the fact they pick you up in San Antonio and that take you across and then bring you back seriously makes everything sooo much better. Its also awesome that you spend the whole time at the hospital now that he has the new facility so you have nurses there 24/7. They were super awesome with my pain management and there was always someone there to help when I needed it.

My recovery has been a breeze and I don't know if that's because I have a high pain tolerance or if it was just because Dr. Alvarez did such an awesome job. I had the normal pain after but within a week i was feeling a lot better.... Over all my experience was everything I could hope for from start to finish.

I was sleeved by Dr. A on March 8th. Everyone has so many good things to say about him, but I didn’t have that same experience.
There seemed to be a lot of miscommunication between the doctors and my husband and I couldn’t get answers to our questions.
I was in so much pain and they only gave me one injection of a more powerful drug. Not to mention they sent me across the border with FOUR pain pills lol.
I’ve had to suffer through the pain which is really quite annoying after having major surgery.
The doctors started getting snippy and rude and the nurses wouldn’t pay attention to us... we just wanted some answers.

I seem to be the only one that’s had a...less than amazing experience with him so maybe it was just an off weekend. I didn’t get a meet and greet with him either. I met him right before my surgery.

Idk, it just felt like I had fallen through the cracks of the things that I’d seen other patients get on social media.
Anyways, this isn’t a rant just verbalizing the concerns/annoyances I experienced.

Hope your surgery goes well!! :)

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
