That’s so good, you go girl! My husband is doing good other than tired of drinking the shakes and he doesn’t like the broths. So idk what he can really have other than, egg drop Soup, sugar free Jello and sugar free popsicles. I just feel so bad for him when he are all eating in front of him. I’m trying the best I can to be supportive and not eat bad or in front of him but he says eat whatever. I’m so glad for this site as it helps me and thank you as well.

Is he allowed other Soups? I'd be bored of broth too! I made real slow cooked chicken stock, rich in Gelatin, and then used that to make some really substantial soups: a pumpkin and carrot Soup, a cauliflower and sharp cheddar soup, and more recently a rich blended pea and ham soup based on the below recipe, but using yellow split peas, and using my rich chicken stock rather than plain water: https://www.taste.com.au/recipes/pea-ham-soup-2/f8ffc44c-1ed2-4d69-9fe8-8c05d7be910b

I find my soups substantial enough that they've gotten me through fairly contentedly to almost the 2 weeks mark now :)

Is he post op or pre op? Egg drop Soup sounds so good!

Well it only says broths and I feel bad for him. Tomorrow is two weeks and I’m calling the nutritionist at the drs to see what else he can have. Other than that we have to wait for him to start on phase 2 which is week 3. I’m going to look into your soup recipe. Thank you and good luck to you!

He is post op two weeks tomorrow. He ate 1/4 the first day then 1/2 the next day minus the vegetables and eggs.

Oh wow. I'm 5 days post op tomorrow, they are allowing me to start with cream of wheat, creamed Soup (strained), cottage cheese (mashed with a fork to get rid of the curds), pudding, and instant mashed potatoes done runny. I can't imagine being on Clear Liquids for 2 weeks.. this is driving me crazy.

I know each doctor is different, but maybe let them know he's tolerating it fine and ask if he can be moved up to a fuller liquid diet? (That is- if he is tolerating it well.)

Doctors are all so different it's hard to tell.

Yes exactly. I’m calling tomorrow. I think they are just trying to be cautious but they expect him to been on this clear liquid diet for three weeks and it’s crazy.

I was sleeved 5/3/18 and my doctor has me on just Clear Liquids and Protein Drinks for at least the first two weeks. I find out Wednesday when I'm able to move forward to soft foods. So far it hasn't bothered me but I am looking forward to some scramble eggs, hopefully soon. I've been taking my Protein Drink upstairs while my husband eats downstairs so I don't even see what he's eating. I can smell it and it always smells good, but so far haven't even been tempted.

You should consider weaning yourself down or off AD's. My surgeon is a man of little words, LOL, and he was...disgruntled that I was still taking Paxil at 1 week, LOL. Since surgery I have gone from from 30 to 10 (week coming up), Paxil, and onward to 0.. Its tough, and I get weird symptoms, but nothing to stop me from progressing. Can't wait to be free after 10 years.

My doctor knows I'm on Prozac (generic) and have been for years. Never mentioned anything about coming off of it. I can't imagine doing this surgery AND coming off of it at the same time. Is there a reason why he wants you off of it? I don't know why he/she would take away something that supports you mentally and emotionally at a time like this.

I am also on Prozac and have been for over 10 years. My surgeon said it was no problem which is good as it has made a remarkable difference in my life. I have no plans to come off of it.

If you're thinking Chinese, I like the broth off of hot sour Soup even more than egg drop.

I just had my operation on 5/11. The first 2 days was brutal and had to stay in the hospital an extra night. Be comfy, take your deep breaths, and walk so the trapped gas can pass...

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
