I am not a trained medical professional but, if I had to guess, you're retaining Fluid. You need to relax and stop agonizing over the scale. I am not even going to weigh myself until I am fully two weeks post-op because I know I won't get an accurate number. You will lose weight if you follow the rules of the program. But bear in mind that there will be stalls and sometimes the stalls can last a long time. The important thing is to persevere.

Two reasons

1. Gas. It’s also the source of a lot of your initial pain. For me it was 80% of my pain and I was so happy when I started passing gas.

2. Fluids. Remember, you were hooked up to an IV - for a few days, and those fluids pumped into your body 24 hours a day.

About day 3-4 Post-Op you should see marked improvement in the ‘additional weight”.

But my suggestion to you? Follow your Drs plan, walk as much as you can, and weigh only once a week.

Congratulations! I had my surgery March 5th so I am 9 days Post-Op. we have a March GB Group if you’re interested.

My doctor told me not to pay attention to my weight, just follow the rules. I understand why he said that, but seriously, this is about getting healthier by losing weight! so I weighed myself. And yes, you really have to take the long view. Right after surgery your body is going through all kinds of things, from dealing with gas and Water to healing.

And take seriously what you read on this site about stalls--I've had several and sometimes they last weeks. It can be discouraging when you know you aren't taking in that many calories, but you just have to wait for the scale to catch up with your body's changes. It will eventually . . .

Good luck!

Your doctor has good advice and you probably want to follow it. It's also about getting healthy by developing a healthy relationship to food. It is also about developing good physical activity having as well. It's not only about getting healthy by losing weight, but so much more.

Are you eating correctly? If you’re relying on Protein Shakes, look at the label and make sure the carbs and sugars are appropriate. There is a New Zealand documentary on Netflix where this actually caused someone to gain weight after surgery

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
