Are you looking for the BariatricPal Store? Go now!

I have Severe IBS and GERD. I assume eventually I will have to have a endoscopy as part of my pr-op requirements.

Can this cause me to be denied if I am wanting bypass surgery?

Thanks:)

My endoscopy last week showed GERD. I was planning on the sleeve but this may honestly change my decision tona bypass as some research shows the sleeve may worsen GERD. The bypass actually cures it instantly

I had severe GeRD prior to surgery. To the point that I was up multiple nights per week vomiting between 1-3am (naturally, I’m the freak that could vomit multiple nights and still manage to gain weight). When my surgeon learned how bad my reflux was, he ordered additional testing done (I was originally planning for VSG). Turns out the reflux was NOT from being fat (as I and my pcp has always assumed). I have gastroparesis- I don’t digest foods nearly as quickly as most people. Based on that, my surgeon recommended against the VSG but let me know that the RNY would literally bypass the issue of gastroparesis! I was hesitant but ended up taking his advice and got the RNY on 2/21/18. Couldn’t be happier! No more reflux at all!

I too had gastric and an ulcer due to too much Advil. Plus I have reflux. I stopped Advil went on reflux meds, put the head of my bed up and went on to have a successful sleeve.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
