Yikes. No fun. Do you have helicobacter pylori?

You are, indeed. That's very scary! So glad you're ok.

Ulcers are typically caused by that particular bacteria, though they can caused by a few other things after surgery, too.

Does the doctor have any theory what caused it?

Do you drink a lot of caffeine, smoke, use ibuprofen or aspirin, drink heavily, etc?

Trying to dodge a bullet from your experience....

I had my bypass on December 11- kept fluids down fine- but once I started soft foods I almost always vomited my food. Endoscopy revealed an ulcer. I’ve been on carafate and omeprazole 2x a day. I can keep saying me food down- but still vomit every 1-2 days. How did you know your ulcer perforated??? Pain?? My blood work has alarm been so off- my pcp is very worried.

My bypass was in Dec 2016 and I didn't drink any coffee for months but we got a cool coffee pot for Christmas and I've had a cup (or 2) a day since then and I have drank too much tea so I am pretty sure that is what caused the rupture.

I'm trying to baby my ulcer along. No h.p.bacteria so mine must be from excessive NSAID usage. Surely don't want Hector to perferorate on me.

No! You don't it was so painful and I lost a week in the hospital. Do you take carafate. If you do is it a liquid or pill form?

Yes it was excruciating pain so bad we called 911 and I took an ambulance to the hospital. My bypass was Dec 2016 and I had no idea I had an ulcer. Is your carafate a pill or liquid form?

And my bloodwork has been great so it was very unexpected. Good thing you know so you can take care of it and let it heal properly.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
