Look into the SIPS procedure. I too was on the fence but my surgeon was studying SIPS and it’s been amazing so far. All the plusses with very few minuses. No dumping, GERD, cured my dt2 and has longer successes than VSG
A majority of them are being done in Utah,NJ and at Duke. You can find some surgeons that are doing them around the country. Many have been doing it as a revision but I had mine done all as one

My bonus dad had sips and he loves it whereas my bonus mom had RnY but his procedure was a year after hers and wasnt an option for her.

My surgeon suggest RNY for a few reasons. 1) I have mild GERD. 2) I have a bad metabolism and he says the sleeve is more for someone who overeats, I don’t have much of an appetite so the sleeve would be of no help to me, however, the bypass fixes your metabolism. 3) I do not have these ailments but I have a family history of diabetes, high blood pressure, and stroke. Bypass is a preventative measure for these things. At the end of the day you have to choose which surgery is right for you. I choose to trust my surgeon. Hoping for a late May/early June date. Best wishes!

I wanted the sleeve because the bypass scared me. I had the bypass because my surgeon said it was the best option for me and I would lose the most weight. I heard of people getting the sleeve and then having the revision later if they did not lose enough weight. I was having none of that. One surgery only for me, lol. I am so happy with my decision. I have not had any complications and my recovery was a breeze. I know several people who had the sleeve and wish they did the bypass.

Bypass 3/27/17

Starting weight 395

Surgery weight 341

Current weight. 255

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
