First nights at home

Recommended Posts

Sleeved on 2/14 and tonight is my first night home. Nurse and doctor said it was ok to sleep on side and i tried but could not, sleep on back and woke up in terrible pain , like I stretched out my tummy to much, now in chair waiting for meds to kick in. Any one else have issues sleeping at home the first few nights.

Yes, I slept in my back, and woke up every few hours for Water and then to go to the bathroom! There is no
way I could sleep on my back, to much pulling in my stomach. I did put a lot of pillows behind my head, ran the humidifier (big help), and put a pillow on my stomach. I the pillow on my stomach when I sit down, or start to walk. It just feel better! Also a heating pad set in low helps a lot too! Good luck, I just had surgery Monday! Harder than I thought!

I couldn't sleep on my side for probably the first 2-3 weeks. Had to sleep on my back. Some nights I just slept on the couch because it was easier to prop myself up with pillows and be comfortable as I am typically am not a back sleeper. You will be able to sleep on your side again but it can be tender for a while. Everybody is different so take your time with it. I know some have said they managed to use pillows as a support while on their side to take some pressure off. Could never get it to work for me, though.

Many people find it difficult to sleep comfortably immediately after surgery. Some found sleeping on a recliner worked for them. The problems gets better quickly. It should be resolved in a couple days. In the mean time find what is the most comfortable and works for you.

Later when you have lost a lot of weight, you might want to slip a pillow between your legs when you sleep on your side at night. There is nothing more unnerving than feeling the bones at your knees rub together.

I see a night or two in my Love sac in the future then... Did great after my back surgery and subsequent pain injections.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
