Sleeved 2/2-already able to eat!

Recommended Posts

I got sleeved on 2/2 as well! I am having a terrible time with my Protein Shakes. My tastes have all changed and all my Protein seems nauseating to me. I’ve been drinking Protein2O Water but it only has half the protein as a shake. Ugh!

I’m so sorry! I heard that some people have different taste buds after surgery! Luckily I haven’t experienced any of that yet but there is still a chance it could happen once I switch to actual food!

I am not drinking any Protein yet. My first step is clear fluids for 7 days ( broth, sf Jello, 100% juice mixed with water) Saturday o get to move to full fluids. Super excited for that step. Cream Soups and yogurt lol sounds like a dream.

That’s great! I’m so excited for that too! I have been having extreme lightheadedness since my surgery. Hoping once I make the switch to full liquids I’ll be better. Right now I’m only doing Clear Liquids with one Protein Shake a day until Friday.

We alternated Protien shakes and clear fluids each hour.

4 ounces Protien shake (one ounce every 15 minutes)

4 ounces Clear fluids (one ounce every 15 minutes)

over and over....all day...every hour we were awake.

I was able to get in 32 oz of clear fluids and 32 ounces of protien shake on day 3. Four whole Premier Protein shakes.

We did this for the first 7 days....then added cream of wheat, thinned oatmeal, strained cream Soup and sugar free pudding for another week.

On day 14...we added purees.

All of my transitions went terrific.

I was wondering how long were you in the hospital after the procedure? I am in the process of getting an answer from insurance and i was curious.

Ive had the same experince, sleeved on 1/29 and I can eat full food now, albeit only teeny tiny amounts, I can tolerate just about anything as long as I chew it into a paste. I got up immediately after surgery and walked the ward 4-5 times each time. I also snuck ice chips and small sips of Water before my GI test and I was fine. I had my first post op appt today and my Dr was impressed that I'm already walking 2 miles and tolerating most foods. He encouraged me to introduce more foods but make sure I'm taking in mostly Protein and watch for white meat cuts as they may get stuck and irritate the stomach. Your most likely fine, the weight will come off as long as your portions are very small, but be glad your not one of those that has reflux or vomiting. I've lost 6 lbs as of today HW 288 SW 227 CW 221, good luck you'll be fine

Everyone is different, some people will have trouble drinking liquids and meeting proteinand Fluid requirements. Others will have no trouble at all right after surgery getting in 64 oz liquids or more and their Protein. Either one is "normal", it just varies from person to person.

I had no trouble getting liquids down right after surgery.

You will find that you might feel hungry, as these are liquids you are taking in, not dense protein. When it is time to move on to soft and solid food, you probably will find that you are more satisfied and not as hungry.

As long as you follow your program, you will lose weight and do well. I wouldn't worry at all about being hungry or restriction, or anything like that at this time.

I was in the hospital one night. Had a sleeve and hiatal hernia repair. Was roaming the halls a couple hour after release from recovery room. Walking helps so much.

This might be a little tmi, but how has all of your visits to the bathroom been? Has the liquid diet changed how often you go?

Hey so I’ve been healing really well. I was sleeved 2/2 and I haven’t had any complications besides gas. I started walking immediately after surgery and had my first bm two days after surgery(sorry tmi!)

It’s great overall, but I can already hold down liquids and my Protein Shakes. I even had a small bite of an egg and was fine. I’m a little worried because of how easy it is for me to get my fluids in. I have also been feeling hungry very often. I just don’t want to mess up and not lose weight. I start to feel full after about 3-4 oz and then I stop for a few minutes and am able to drink again. But I’ve read a lot that many can’t even drink a lot after surgery?? Is this normal?? Looking for any support buddies!!

Sounds like me with the Water & shakes. Never a problem. I can chug a lot of water & have been drinking 2 liters or more since 2 days out. I consider myself lucky. I also get it with the food. I’m on puréed until the 22nd & I have take a few bites of soft foods but chewed it real well. I suggest a good blender if you don’t already have one. I was told I can purée nearly anything I want as long as I only eat half a cup every 3 hours & no that doesn’t mean cake lol but I have had a slice or pizza on Super Bowl Sunday & a burrito in chili another time. Other than that it’s mostly Campbell’s Chunky Soup. Everything I eat has Taco Bell Fire Sauce on it. I use a Vitamix & it is the Bomb! It puree’s awesome!

Thanks so much for the advice!! [emoji177] I’m glad I’m not the only one in the same boat and you made me feel sooo much better about the Fluid intake! I feel like with this surgery I will take moderation! I know that once I can I will let myself take small bites of things now and then because if I don’t then I will end up going crazy! When were you sleeved? [emoji4] so glad things have been going good for you!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
