For all of us with white tongues...

Recommended Posts

I had a checkup with my PCP today and he checked my tongue which looks like I’ve been licking white paint for a month. He called it “furry tongue” and suggested I suck on some pineapple daily. Not sure what the science is behind pineapples and furry tongues, but I figure it can’t hurt to try! [emoji13]

I thought that a white tongue was a sign of dehydration... I guess other things could cause it to, since your doctor didn’t mention it.

White tongues can and do signify dehydration, however, I think the “pattern” of the whiteness/how it looks helps to determine if it’s dehydration or just a “furry” tongue. Mine definitely is of the “furry” pattern/texture haha! Gross 🤢

I had Thrush on my tongue, which is pretty common after a surgery. This is pretty much a yeast infection on your tongue. My PCP prescribed oral Nystatin to swish and spit (can be swallowed). You may want to ask for a second opinion.

I’ve used Nystatin for true oral thrush before, which worked great! This doctor was my third opinion (had it in hospital too) and nobody thinks it’s oral thrush. I asked if it was but they’ve said it isn’t looking like it. If it doesn’t go away in a few more days I’ll ask for some Nystatin! Thanks!

Just check with your surgeon on pineaple. It has an enzyme that breaks down some of your tongue/ mouth. It may not be ok on a healing stomach.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
