Newbie-to-be. Lap Bander

Recommended Posts

Possibly me! Depending if I go through with the surgery!

This forum absolutely destroyed my confidence in the lap band and I’m having so many second thoughts!

In the other hand, success stories are few and far between but then it seems to be “the best decision I’ve ever made!” when the band is successful.

I don’t know if it’s worth the risk and money anymore.

How do you feel?

My daughter got her LapBand (by Dr. Ortiz at OCC in Tijuana ) when she was 16..fast forward 9 years.. She is now 25..and still doing great.. She has kept the weight off..from 220ish to 160ish..

My sis also got the LapBand.. Here in NY.. And about a year later.. Had to have it removed and had gastric bypass..she is also doing great now..

Everyone is different.. I went for a consultation with Dr. Ten and Dr Fielding at NYU.. They still use the Lapbands.. The insurance won't cover me bec my BMI is barely 35..and I don't really have health issues important enough for them!!! So.. Self pay at NYU is between 15k to18k..

So I've decided to go back to Tijuana.. Dr Ortiz no longer does the LapBand.. So I am going with Dr. Lopez Corvala.. They are both excellent Drs..

The sleeve is too drastic for me.. I feel much more comfortable with the LapBand ..

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
