Recommended Posts

Hello Everyone,

I’ve been researching and planning for months and just still very scared to make that final step of booking the surgery. Please anyone who has gone through these fears and then had the surgery, please give me some input! I know I want to do this I’m just scared of the possible complications.

I haven't had mine yet. Band to Bypass on 1/16. I am scared. I may have to have open instead of laparoscopic. That's what scares me. I remember being scared before lapband..easy peasy, but now I'm 58 and weigh more. Had a very difficult time losing weight.

I have to say I can't stand the way I am so overweight, hiding from the world. Tired out too easy from anything. Reflux, asthma, arthritis in my neck and back, so many other health issues. Make a list of why you should.

I have read so many posts like yours - in fact I may well have made one myself!

You are sensible to be worried. This is major surgery. You shouldn’t do it on a whim. But - we come through the op, we adjust to the eating and sipping, and we lose weight.

Stay around here - most of the people who write have great experience, warmth, wit and wisdom to help you through. They did it for me!

I had open surgery almost three weeks ago. It isn’t so bad - in fact, I think watching my surgery buddies, not having the gas pain is a real benefit. I was off all pain relief in 3 days - it is surprisingly ok. I had a hysterectomy years ago - that was WAY harder!

I have posted here looking for open surgery buddies - seems there are few. Feel free to message me if you want but I really am honest in saying it seems not much rougher than the laparoscopic.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
