Hi everyone! I am a “newbie” here, and I’m also new to the *Wonderful World of Weight-loss Surgery*. I started my process in November, my insurance requires a consecutive 6 month physician supervised diet,my appointment next week will make month 3 for me(halfway mark yay!!). This is my first time making a post, I mostly get on here to just read research, but I noticed that everyone is either post-op, or already on the liquid diet, so I’m looking for people to connect with that are currently still going through the process before approval like me...a little about myself: My name is Jaz I am 25yrs old.

CW: 243(give or take)

HW: 250

GW: 140

BMI:39

Nycready87 how did your seminar go? Did you learn anything valuable, any information to help you,in,the future. Does it seem to be a good. fit, for you,program-wise?[emoji307]

Kakatlady612 it went really good they gave good I information better than montefiore did. All the info I did already look up myself but it was informative. At the end the they set you up with a ur it's appointment(consult). I have mine scheduled for the 21st for this month

HELLO GIRLIE,

So I am definitely a newbie here. My insurance requires a 12 week program prior to scheduling a surgery. So my classes start at the end of February so i am definitely trying to get this done and trying to get some type of support group going. I come to all these forums to get info and some real answers. I am nervous because I'm pretty young and don't have any children. I do want this to effect my children and I have never had surgery in my life but i am definitely look forward to it and side bar I am not telling anyone but my boyfriend since we live together I have no choice .

Don't be nervous, this is a positive change. Surgery is scary but it is literally over before you know it! You wake up like huh?

It is def a scary and exciting experience all in one. I have a 3 month program to do and possibly 6 month I find out for sure when I go to my first appoint coming up. But I'm stalking this site.

I had six months. It was kind of brutal but after month 4 it all goes pretty quickly. Just get your appointments in, don't gain and if you need a cpap, USE IT.

Hi Jaz-

I live in Southern California, and my insurance provider Kaiser Permanente, requires a 12 session OPTIONS class to learn about the surgery and prepare with diet and exercise. I just completed OPTIONS on January 29th. My surgical consult is scheduled for February 27th. We have been told that there is an average weight time of 77 days from the date of our consult. I have lost 10 lbs since starting OPTIONS in Novemeber, and Kaiser requires a 10% weight loss prior to surgery so I have 12 more lbs to lose. I pray that I can meet their requirments, this surgery is so important to me. I am so happy that I found this site. Looking forward to walking through this journey with people at all stages along the path.

I just finished my nutrition visit. I have my surgeon visit on March 8. They said they submit everything to insurance that day. Best of luck!!

I meet with the surgeon an he said they was submitting my paperwork to insurance an that the insurance company normally response within 2 weeks so Im waiting an hoping for a yes and go!!!

I am so excited I am with Kairser west LA office as well. I start the OPTIONS program on the 21. Please keep me posted on your progress. I am so glad to see someone around my weight getting is also because everyone is convinced that I don't need this and that I can work out on my own but they don't know my journey and my yoyo so I am glad. How was the OPTIONS program ?

Hi Jaz I'm cherelle 27 years old and weighs 303 I just started my journey as well I met with the surgeon the dietitian and the psyche doctor all in the same day now I'm In the process of having all my cardiac clearances passed once that's done my advocate told me she submits all paper work then u have a answer within a week from your insurance so I'm hoping and praying to have everything done by end of March beginning of April good luck!!!

Hi and welcome relle2190. I'm the grandma of Bariatric Pal., although in your case I'm old enough to be your great grandmother. A little about my favorite subject:ME. I live in Mount Vernon Ohio a city of a little under 20000 people,don't know how many dogs and cats. My city is 14 miles from Ohio's Geographic Center. I am 5ft8in tall. weight 323 down from a high of 355 and am 72 years old last December 26th. Yeah an untraditional age for bariatric surgery but I'm in it to win it just like everyone else.I will have a RnY at Mount Carmel in Columbus early-mid March. I had 3 children 2 living my son who I call my Tomkitten on here and his older sister R.D. short for Rotten Daughter. She lives 7/8 mile from me. She hadn't spoken directly for 6 months, her choice not mine. Christmas her best friend suddenly died of a heart attack. She started calling and,texting me again. Will it last? Can't really say.,i never stopped loving her but many of her actions I dont like or approve of,. Still she was my baby and an only child and grandchild for her first 7 years, Ah we all have our trials in life.
