Do Protein Shakes count as Water intake?

Recommended Posts

The Fluid requirement is met by a combination. It is not only the Water that you drink each day. But also the water you drink when you take your Vitamins and medicine. It is the milk you drink. It is the fluids content of the Protein Shakes. It is the water component of the Soups you take. It is met by flavored water such as Crystal Light. It is met by sugar free popsicles. It is met by tea and Decaf coffee. It is a combination of all the fluids that you consume during the day.

How many ounces are your shakes? Measure grams for the Protein goal. Measure ounces for the Fluid goal. 64 oz of fluid is a minimum, anything more you can manage is beneficial.

So your 2 shakes plus another 40 oz of Fluid is the goal.

The first few days were the hardest but now that you are 5 days out you should be able to hit the recommended amounts. Good luck

Hi all!

Question- do the Protein Shakes count as Water intake? I’m supposed to get 60 Protein and 64 Water right? I’m 5 days post op

My doc says the 64 oz of water is completely separate. You cannot use your Protein Drinks, etc. to apply o the 64 oz. If this isn’t true, I would sure like to know because i’m gonna be mad.

You lucky duck! I can’t count them! :48_weary:

My surgery guide also says it doesn't count. But still, pour up! <3

I had confirmed this with my nutritionist and she agreed. But doctors may differ. After my surgery I was drinking 3 sixteen ounce Protein Shakes per day.

My surgeon also said shakes didn't count. On the other hand, I wasn't meeting the Water goal based on water alone for a very long time after surgery. I'm pretty sure I do now, but I'm almost four months out.

We were told to count half our Protein Shake as fluids. So, 5.5oz for a 11oz Protein shake.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
