I agree with the doctor. My wife and I both had sleeves 6 mo ago she had a RNY revision and I am having mine done March 7 because of acid reflux. I am looking forward to the date. I hope this help just my 2 cents worth

The ultimate decision is yours of course, but I would listen to your doctor's advice, he has done a lot of these procedures, and he wouldn't have suggested RnY if he hadn't seen a good reason for it. A lot of times they advise sleeve for people your age but as you see from the previous person a lot of times it needs revised. Why not go with just one surgery and get it done right the first time? Study up on both procedures, you'll only have 4or5,little iddie bitty slits in your tummy no matter which one. If you have a sleeve the left one is where they pull the majority of your stomach out, you do know you lose about 3/4 of your. stomach with that procedure? If you have a bypass that's where they put the biggest gauge equipment, in either case that will be the sorest if one has to be. You'll start on a beautiful new journey toward weight loss and better health, and also a longer lifespan. It will be worth it all!

Yesss!!! Congrats. Wishing you a speedy recovery. Don't forget to get up and walk every hour to get rid of the gas pressure.

My weight loss journey started 30 years ago. I have had some successes and lots of failures.

One week from today I will have my wls. I am super excited and scared at the same time.

So March the 6th will be your day? That's my oldest granddaughters birthday, she'll be 22. Took me a second to do the arithmetic. Excitement and apprehension go hand in hand. No matter how hard you,prepare you're going into uncharted territory. I'm sure you have a good doctor and you'll be fine. We'll be praying for you. Please let us know how things go for you --we groove on successful stories.

Thank you so much. My brother and his wife and my son and his wife have all had it done. I have a pretty amazing support system.

I live a long way from my surgeon so my primary care will be doing all follow up. Saw him this morning and will see him one more time before surgery.

I am most excited to know that Saturday night as I start the total clear liquid part of the pre-op diet I will take my insulin pump off for the last time.

I'm new and in the very early stages of the qualification process. My initial consult was Feb 23 with Dr Foreman in Huntsville, AL. I have done the blood work and H-Pylori test, and today (Feb 28) I will be having a stress test done. Next week will begin the 180-day with 6 consecutive visits with my family doctor per the insurance requirements. Luckily, I do not have to have another colonoscopy, as mine has been within the last 10-years. I am predicting that my gastric sleeve surgery will not happen until the September at the earliest.

It's a couple of months since I had my endoscopy, but I was sedated for it. I thought going into it that I would be awake and just given a throat spray, but on the morning of the procedure my surgeon said his standard is now to sedate, although that varies from practice to practice I think. I had no pain or discomfort after it whatsoever.

How was the endoscopy

My endoscopy is Friday, so I haven’t had it yet. I did have a similar test done a month ago (a TEE) and can tell you the worst part was not being able to drink water that morning. The only discomfort was a slight scratchy throat the day after.

Hi I started on this journey in 2015, part way thru, job terminated in Jan 2016 so lost insurance. Thought I'd muddle along but after diet failures and second knee replacement last February, realized I wouldn't last longer being the weight of a redwood tree when inside is a lovely sugar maple waiting. Hi from to,bloom forth. I'm a little older than many of you saplings but I'll make a success of this journey and I hope to be here firmly rooted for many more years. Hope to have my surgery at Mount Carmel in my state capital of Columbus with Dr Marcus Miller. He and his Bariatric Nurse Navigator Amber are great. Not frightened of my future RnY, only wish it was tomorrow. Happy New Year from Central Ohio.

Just had a sleeve revision February 27th water and ice pops is pretty much all I can consume. Broth makes me nausea (and I love soups!) good part down 10 lbs

Hey Everyone! I'm new to the community and this seemed like a good place to put my first post. Like many, I have been obese my entire life and luckily at this point while my BMI is high, I don't have any significant health concerns (e.g. diabetes, high BP) and am hoping that getting this surgery and losing the weight will help me to avoid all of those in the future. I first visited my WLS center in December and I am supposed to have my last pre-op appointment this month with the NP. I've completed all my pre-surgery appointments (e.g. endoscopy, echocardiogram, psych eval, and labs). Everything came back normal except for a couple vitamin deficiencies for which I am taking supplements. I am meeting with the NP and the nutritionist on the same day this month and from there they will send all my info into my insurance company. So, fingers crossed that everything is smooth sailing.

Hi f.f.Monty &, welcome. What surgery will you be having and where are you located? Also let us know your surgery date when you get one. We have everything from newbies to seasoned veterans on here and we all want to help any way we can, so ask if you have any questions.
