I hadn’t my surgery 11/29 and struggling home

Recommended Posts

I came home from the hospital yesterday afternoon and I felt good, but now I just cried as my family ate dinner and I drank my protien shake. I’m ashamed that I couldn’t lose the weight on my own and I’ve had to have surgery to correct my weight problem. I see them eating and enjoying their food and I wish I could enjoy it too. I knew this was going to be hard but I guess I didn’t figure in the smells of food I would miss.😢

I went through the same feelings and emotions you are having. I was sleeved on 11/17 the week before Thanksgiving. Here I am 15 days post op and down 21 pounds so far. I can tell you it does get better. Each day gets better. It is an emotional journey but just keep in mind the reasons you did this. I too felt ashamed that I couldn't lose the weight on my own. I felt like a failure. But the past is behind you, don't beat yourself up over it. Instead work on the present and take it day by day. I'm sure in 6 months you will look back and it will all be worth it! Good luck to you on your journey!

Sorry your struggling it will take awhile to get used to. But when your on normal food you can enjoy a few bites with them. Don't be ashamed that you have taken action. How ever long it took you to do it. You have done it now. And when the weight starts dropping off it will be hard to regret it. 4 months post. Almost 60lbs down. I'm loving this. And I don't even care that I can't eat much I'm so great full. Your not alone.

Today was a better day. I walked more. Got out of the house. Even got my nails done. I slept better and I think that helped as well. I’ve been waking up in pain about 1 AM every night since surgery. I’m only on Tylenol right now after my allergic reaction to lortab. That was fun.

I had my surgery the day before you and I've cried every day. I would give anything to chew food. So don't feel alone. We are in this together and together we will come out better and healthier! We got this!

Remember, as the fat in your body burns off, all of the stored hormones in there literally flood your body. And you're burning fat so fast, it's a big flood. Mood swings are normal, a little sadness or regret are normal. To me, it's ok to mourn the life you had- as long as you spend more time looking forward to all of the living you have ahead of you.

Thanksgiving was a week and half post op for me, and sitting there with my 3 ounces of cottage cheese was miserable. I got through it, we all had a good laugh, and now I'm glad for that day. Couldn't have restrained myself last Thanksgiving. You'll get there.

Thank you. You are all so supportive that I’m getting teary again. I just made some other items I can have on full fluids with Protein Powder in it. I can only do so many Protein Shakes. I gagged the cream Soups the other day and have since lost my love of them. Pinterest is my savior at this point.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
