I'm only a month out but I've started shedding too. My dietician told me it's nothing to do with Vitamins or Protein. It's a normal reaction to major surgery. So it seems like there's not much to be done. I went and got my hair cut short today. I have super fine hair so that makes it look thicker. Meanwhile, when my hair starts to grow back it won't have a long way to go to catch up.

I mean some hairloss is natural and unavoidable but some (probably most) is absolutely from malnutrition as well. Years ago I crash dieted and lost the most weight I've ever lost in my life. I also lost the most hair I've ever lost in my life like where it looked extremely bad and I had never had surgery in my life.

I was shedding for a few months. Luckily, it's slowing down but it started around the second month and went till I was 4 1/2 months out. My theory is this: you're not getting enough nutrition when your calories are extremely restricted, like they are those first few months. Your body uses the calories you're giving it for important areas, such as your heart, brain, etc, and not much nutrition is left over for unimportant areas, like your hair and nails.

Before long, you'll be able to eat more and the shedding will diminish over time. In the mean time, eat the most nutritious foods you can. Make every bite count and make sure it packs a nutritious punch.

I am 4 months out and dealing with a lot of shedding. I have not had any other issues - no nausea, pain and can tolerate any foods. But the hair shedding is making up for it!!!! I am taking Biotin everyday but the jury is still out on whether it actually helps.

Thank you so much for your input! And I might get a cut as well if I continue to thin out.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
