My surgery is Dec 6th but my husbands surgery was last Dec he is 5lbs from his goal weight. He drinks at least 2 shakes a day. He lost all his weight in the 1st 6-8 month's. Protein is very important for you health, muscles and weight loss. There is a calculator app that will tell you how much protien you need for your specs.

Do you know where to find the calculator that would be an interesting thing to check

I'm sure there are many food log applications out there. I still use myfitnesspal.

Yes, Everyone's instruction on Protein may vary a bit. My instructions in weight loss mode were 60-100g, Part of your protein goal range is due to the amount of calories you are able to consume in the first stages of surgery.

What do you consider too much protein? I get in 135+ grams. I'm further out. Increasing my protein goal helps with hunger. It also supports my weight lifting and distance running.

My surgery was Sep 6th and I have lost 60 pounds so far. I was told to sip on a Protein Shake throughout the day (do not use it for meal replacement) until I was able to get 60 grams of Protein per day and then to get off the Protein Shakes because it will slow the weight loss. I was also told to get off "SLIDER" food as of my 2 month follow up. I asked what Slider food was and was told it is anything with liquid type consistency that slides right through my pouch without stopping (I was eating cottage cheese for Breakfast and lunch and they want me to eat more solid food). They wanted me to eat more solid food so it would stay in my stomach longer and I would get more of the nutrients from the foods I was eating.

Besides staling weight loss can there be any other side affect by this protien. Also with the b complex or other Vitamins, ive been reading that many post - op patients are puting these Patches. And im thinking, maybe i can do both, patch and orally too, that way i know im getting all the vitamins needed n then some. What can go wrong ? I can be good, healthy, heal quicker and best of all no Hair loss.< /p>

To much of certain vitamins aren't good for you and can cause problems. For example to much Calcium can cause kidney stones or gall stones. I'd stick to whatever was recommended that you take.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
