Hi Danna,
My name is Donia and I am 46. I just found this group yesterday! I’m about 2-3 months out from having gastric sleeve surgery. I’m in the phase of meeting with my dietician, exercise specialist, and others who will help me be successful in this journey. Where are you in the process?

Hi Donia! I just started my journey and had my very first meeting on Oct. 30th. I’m about 8 months out from having my surgery. My insurance requires a 9 month waiting period in which I have to see all the different specialist to make sure I am healthy enough for the surgery. Are you excited or worried about your surgery? What’s been the hardest part of your journey so far.

I’m excited! I think the hardest part for me so far has been mental. I keep thinking of all the foods I’ll be giving up and it’s hard because I love food! But the other day I had an epiphany and started making a “can’t do” list to compare to my “can’t eat” list, and the “can’t do” list is so much longer! I have severe arthritis in one knee and advanced arthritis in the other, which limits me greatly. So I’m ready to lengthen the “can’t eat” list in order to shorten the “can’t do” one! :)

I think that’s where I am at the moment. I keep looking and thinking OMG I’m never gonna eat that again. But like you I have a lot of medical issues that are keeping me from doing all the things I love. I use to love to go to amusement parks but now I just don’t fit. So I know it’s time to do something.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
