Started Exercising..now exhausted

Recommended Posts

Hey all, i am 7 weeks out and just started exercising (30 min on elliptical once a day). Where I had been feeling great, good energy etc. I now find myself exhausted and falling asleep early evening. I want to exercise but I wonder if its too much with such limited caloric intake (appx 800-900 cal/day) or maybe this is just a hump I will get over when my body adjusts. I work full time and go to school full time so I need to be functional, any input appreciated. Thanks!

Most weight is lost in the kitchen not the gym. If you are tired from that level of exercise try walking instead.

Fantastic you are working out!

If you are just starting your workout routine, give it some time. Start out slow and build up your endurance and strength. Nothing happens overnight.

Muscle is torn in the gym, fed in the kitchen and built in bed. (Nothing wrong with rest days)

I had to start back to exercise slower than expected. I'm still not back to my pre-op level of intensity. I feel good for daily activities but too much exercise just wipes me out.

listen to your body and do what you can. As others said exercise is good for overall health but not essential for the initial weight loss

Go slow! I hit it hard and wound up with blisters galore and super exhausted. 20 minutes of varied cardio and a bit of weights is a good start. Good luck!!

Thank you everyone for your responses. As the veteran’s have stressed, i’m just trying to take advantage of this window of opportunity to take off as much weight as possible. Also trying to maintain muscle mass as I have read that with rapid wt loss you are also sacrificing muscle. 30 min of elliptical didn’t seem like very much activity to me but maybe my body is telling me otherwise.

I’m 3 months out on 11/23 (sleeved aug 23). I started long dog walks as soon as I was off the oxy and HIIT 2x a week at about 5 weeks. A few weeks ago I upped it to 3x and now 5x a week but sometimes two classes back to back. On the days I workout hard I increase calories to about 1100-1200. I also make NSA coconut and blackberry fat bombs, eat whole grain oatmeal as my pre-workout meal and make sure to get at least 100g Protein on those days.

I was absolutely weak and exhausted at first until I increased my calories. On off days I eat less but I 100% need the fuel on workout days.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
