Surgery scheduled for 11-20. Today is day 1 of pre-op diet. So nervous after reading about how difficult this is from other sleevers.

Mine is scheduled for the 21st. I'll be right behind you. I start my pre-op diet tomorrow. Good luck and just take it one day at a time!

I'd love to find a "pal" with a surgery date close to mine (Nov. 8th). Even better if you're a stay at home mom in NC! [emoji6] I'd love someone to kind of be able to form a friendship with and discuss, confide, all those fun things friends do. [emoji14] I'm keeping my surgery a secret, so no one knows but my husband. It has been hard but I think it's best, for now anyway.

I’m also in NC!! Not a stay at home mom though. My date is 11/20, I just started my 2 week liquid diet today!!

Good luck to all three new people just starting your pre-op diet for Nov surgery. Just remember, you only need to survive one day at a time.

You can do this! It's truly the definition of mind over matter. When I was just a few days into my liquid only diet, I thought about the reason we have to do it. My Dr. wants my liver as small as possible so it's easier to get to the stomach. I definitely want to make his life easier when he's operating on me! This thought process really helped me through. I'm 11 days in and I can say it gets easier! Just take it one day at a time :) oh and get the caramel Premier Protein Shakes - they're heaven!

I find the shakes to be too thick for my pallet so I added about 4 ounces of unsweetened original or vanilla almond milk to mine too thin it up and make it easier to get down.

You can do this! I know it seems difficult. But just get through today. Keep hydrated. Drink your Water. Each day is a new day. So just keep doing one day at a time.

Good luck!

Ok but I don’t know if I can add any milk because I’m doing the clear liquid and Protein diet... I’m going to ask on Wednesday when I go to sign for surgery!!! Yes thank you so much one day at a time! [emoji3]

Ah yes sounds like you're on the Clear Liquids. I was started on the actual Protein Shakes the day after surgery for Breakfast.

It seem like the closer my date came the harder my job worked me. I haven't been on like I love to. But today was my last day. Surgery is Tuesday @ 5:45am. Boy this journey to get here has been out if this world. I also work with pt who come to my floor after surgery when their unit is full. I hope to God that I am as great as them after surgery. I know most of my pt problems be gas pain so I got that covered. I will keep you guys posted on my arrival and after.

I am on day 7 of the pre op diet. Has been a bit of a juggle as I am also a type 2 diabetic on insulin! I struggle with getting through the Protein Bars without feeling sick afterwards, the VLCD Soups are not the best tasting, so I tend to use the chocolate shakes more than the other products. One week to go, I can do this. Surgery next Wednesday 15th.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
