For all you belly sleepers, how long after surgery was it before you could comfortably sleep on your belly?

I asked about being able to lay flat at my one week appointment. I was not having issues with nausea or re-flux and I was OK'd to lay flat. I flipped onto my stomach right after that.

I had a few stomach pains if I moved in an odd way. I used the support belt a lot the first week. My stomach incisions did not hurt much.

It was a little over two weeks for me, I had a fatty liver that the Dr took a biopsy of so it was HARD sleeping. I was taking a dose and a half of percocet as well as my normal nightly dose of Ambien CR and was still waking up about every hour to rotate sides. I quickly found that sleeping in my recliner was better than sleeping in bed.

I worry about this a little, because I’m a side/stomach sleeper. I did have surgery last year on my abdomen to have sepsis removed. On night it was laparoscopic and within 24 hours I was taken back into surgery and opened up to clean more out. I was rolling back and forth fine and slept on my side and stomach just fine but I was on morphine. I wonder if this will hurt more because of having part of stomach taken out.

It was about three days for me. I started sleeping on my side with a pillow for support. After a few days, I noticed I was pushing the pillow away during sleep until I was on my stomach. Good luck!

It took me 2 weeks. I tried at 1 week out, and felt a bit of pain from my sutures, so I waited. Man did my back hurt by the end of week 2!

I'm on day 2 , had surgery yesterday and I've been laying on my stomach since I got home with no pain. It's actually more comforting

Thanks @BuffaloBill. How are you feeling? I'm scheduled for next Monday 10/16, so I have the nervous yet excited emotions.

Thanks BuffaloBill. How are you feeling? I'm scheduled for next Monday 10/16, so I have the nervous yet excited emotions.

I feel great. The first day was rough especially coming right out of anaesthesia but it's been nothing but uphill since. I don't have really any pain at all on day 5 post op

I couldn't sleep on my side or stomach til like 3 weeks out. I felt this pulling sensation as if my sutures were gonna rip or something earlier than 3 weeks post op. With ease and no pain or discomfort, 3 weeks out.

3 weeks would be brutal. I have never been a back sleeper. Always my side or stomach.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
