i would contact a NUT about a necessary plan for proper eating, drinking,

all things pertaining to bariatrics. she could help set up a plan. if finances
are an issue, try and find a way to go at LEAST once, you must gather info
from NUT to help you learn about what to do next. sorry you were left
in the dark with no plan/ help PO.
There are so many docs out "their" with their own plans that OP here will talk
about. you would blow your mind trying to figure bits and pieces from here and
their to follow. if/when YOU get your own NUT - that's who you listen to ONLY.
(or me too of course)
the two things that are said by most docs etc. - get plenty to drink, as much
as you can - hopefully you'll accomplish the 64 oz you are supposed to
drink. Also get in as much Protein as you can at this early point. most docs tell
you at least 60+ grams of protein. right now, Water is the most important
of everything. you don't want to get dehydrated!!!
good luck bud
kathy

Thank you so much...I really appreciate the feedback [emoji5][emoji5]

I don't know if this was your doc or not. It seems the app doesn't show me surgeon names??

I did get some paper work (3 pages) with after care instructions and a 5-6 week break down to follow, but it isn’t detailed at all. It doesn’t tell you how many ounces you should have at once, or much less any brands of shakes or foods to have. Since I haven’t had any problems swallowing, or getting any liquids down. Or even having any discomfort what so after I drink, I’m scared to add things because I don’t know how much to add. So if I do have a Premier Protein drink how much of it would I drink....I’m assuming the 11 oz would be too much but I just don’t know.

Personally, when I’m drinking a shake it’s a Meal Replacement or snack so I do drink the whole thing over an hour or so. I can share my list of Protein suggested by the dietician. I use Vitamin Shoppe or premier.

My dietician has always said 2 oz max for Snacks and 6 for food but I think I’ve read less for some people. The ability to eat that much or less greatly depends on the type of food and way the wind is blowing. Since I moved to solid food I eat less than 6 oz cause I get full much faster.

Do you have a local Bariatric program you could consult with? I know our bariatric program welcomes people who had surgery in other places but live locally to the plan. Maybe see if there is a support group you can attend and see if a NUT or local Surgeon can look at your medical records and suggest a plan for you to eat after surgery.

Thank you! This is very helpful. I’m gonna try the shake today and sip it over an hours times see how it goes.

Sophia,

I found this very conservative diet for you https://www.obesitycoverage.com/the-big-gastric-bypass-diet-guide/#week 2 and 3

I know mine is different but without knowing the technique or suture line performed on you I would not recommend anything other than this schedule. Also based on your Doctor I think you should go really slow so you do not have complications.

I'm curious if had seen the negative things posted about Almanza on the board and still decided with this center or maybe they didn't come up when you researched your doctor?

Yessss I’m with you on this. I got nothing. Not even a return check appointment to have the stitches removed. Absolutely no return appt after I left.

That's scary!!!! I chose Dr. A Ortiz @ OCC because he's actually accredited by the same people as US hospitals . Yes he's a little more expensive but you are going under the KNIFE!!! I have zero stitches. Barely any pain. They took excellent care of me and everyone spoke excellent English. Plus they made it a breeze going from hotel to hospital etc. I was walking a few hours afterwards.

Oooh wooow thank you so much....this is exactly what I needed. The time chart to eat and drink is prefect. I really appreciate it [emoji5][emoji5]

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
