Returning to work after surgery

Recommended Posts

When did you return to work? How was it going back? Did you wish you had taken more time? Less time?

I'm a bit concerned about returning to work after the sleeve surgery. I am a middle school teacher and am worried I will not have the energy to stand all day and deal with a hundred 12-year-olds! However, it is difficult to be out for long periods of time, and as it stands now, I will only take one week after surgery. My principal is understanding and if I need another week, she will not fight me on it, but it's hard to miss that much instruction and prepare so much for a sub.

Just now, Sherry Rice said:

I applaud you for what you do! Shaping the future by teaching is amazing. On my BEST day I couldn't deal with 100 12 year olds!!!

Thanks, Sherry! It's exhausting and frustrating, but I love those crazy kids!

I had my surgery on 09/21/17 a Thursday & I went back to work the following Thursday. I didn’t have a problem & wanted to go back a few days earlier. I’m not a teacher, however, I have been a substitute teacher in the past. I guess it all depends if you have to move around a lot, standing for long periods of time or lifting? Hope you find the right decision :)

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
