I was wondering if you used a coughing pillow after VSG and if so, how long after surgery did you need it? Would a firm pillow be better than a squishy fluffy one? I am hoping to go back to school a week after surgery (hopeful, not overly optimistic lol) and I was wondering if I'd need to take my pillow with me.

I would use a pillow to hold onto if it was conveniently close enough when the urge to cough struck. I'd say firm > squishy; I don't think you'll need it in school.

I will say that I went back to school 3 weeks after surgery (had it done over winter break) and I was exhausted! Physically and mentally. It was very difficult to concentrate/care about homework for a few weeks. Perhaps be prepared for that, but everyone is unique in how they recover from surgery.

Best Wishes!

Thank you. I’m glad I won’t need to take it to school with me. I do worry about braving fog and exhaustion after surgery. I took a light load of classes this semester to make up for it but I also took a very difficult class. I’m trying to work ahead so that I will be ready just incase and I will talk to my teacher about it as well incase she can suggest something to help. Thank you again [emoji16][emoji1360]🤞🏼

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
