Just short of my 2 month anniversary. On normal food....which I weigh most days. I have found a boring habit for breakfast and lunch works best. I have cottage cheese with sugar free fruit for breakfast and then a snack mid morning. For lunch I usually have tuna fish on crackers or toasted sugar free diet break. A cheese or other high protein snack mid afternoon. Dinner is often out. I have found about 2/3rd of a hamburger steak or 4 OZ steak, chicken or fish with some steamed vegetables will work. Losing about 2 lbs a week most weeks. Walking a bit, playing golf, and starting some exercise now that my joints are not bothering me. Biggest issue is getting in fluid. I find myself forcing down that last 16 oz of water in the later afternoon. Overall, I feel good and continue to see progress. Hope all of you September folks are doing well!

Hey all

im finally 10.5 weeks out!! I’m 45 pounds down overall and feeling pretty good. There are a few things that have been bothering me:

1. Acne all over my face.

2.legs are still getting swollen

3. Everything is moving to my ass beside back fat

4. Knee pain is a real thing STILL

5. Hunger pain are back are to normal

6. I still cry when I can’t finish my food

weight has fully slowed down. I had my stall at three weeks and it lasted two weeks. After that I have lost at most 3 pounds a week or maybe 2 oz a week.

i went from 430 to 385.4 I’m happy that I got the surgery but this has been a life changing experience that I will never take for granted. This thanksgiving will be a test for me since this will be my first holiday .

Hi,

had my surgery Sept 21 and i to am hungry quit a bit more than i think i should be. I managed to lose 40 lbs in two months but i see lots of others struggling just to eat normally where i feel i can eat with no problem. i started weighing my food so as not to over eat and definitely not eating junk but i have to weigh cause like i said i feel i can eat about over 6 ounces no problem. I started going to the gym three weeks ago and started machines this week for my core but i have accountability and have to lose 6 lbs by Dec 1st when i see my doc and it doesn't seem to just be 'coming off' like some people have described here! I know every ones body is different i just wonder if I'm doing something wrong. Any advice is appreciated

Hello I'm a lol over 6 weeks and this is exactly how I am... how are you doing now ?

Sent from my SM-G935T using BariatricPal mobile app

I mean I have to weigh my food stay away from rice, bread and pasta cake the right choices which are hard cause the wrong ones don't fill your pouch and work out which makes me more upbeat so I don't mind that! I have head hunger always and my pouch can definitely accomadate more which worries me going into the holidays . But we all have to adjust in our own way and work the program follow the rules and hope for the best

I'm feeling great!

I was up to 43 lbs in 10 weeks now it's up three lbs I find myself being able to eat more but still way less than before the sugery , it is that time of the month any day now so idk if that's why I'm up but I am stressing . I go see Dr assistant Friday so I feel like I've let myself down and my doctor idk just venting here!!going to gym 4 times a week about 1 hour each time not eating bread , pasta or rice and pushing my protein and water no problem. So HELP PLEASE!

43lb in 10 weeks is awesome! I definitely gain water weight just before my period, then swoosh, let it all go a couple days later. It sounds like you are doing everything right diet and exercise wise. I think its easy for us to get discouraged or stressed when the scale isn't moving or temporarily going in the opposite direction because many of us have failed at dieting so many times part of us is just waiting to fail bariatric surgery as well. Please don't be discouraged, it's just a bump in the road, look at all the progress you have made so far!

Thanks nessy and yes it is easy to get discouraged and do hard not to compare yourself to others that have lost more in the same amount of time! Thanks fir the encouragement doing my best not eating the bad things and trying to stay positive isn't easy when u go backwards

No problem! I had a little freak out of my own today thinking I was doing something wrong bc the scale is barely moving. I thought “i’ve been in the 190’s forever!” . In reality I looked back at my weight and I’ve been in the 190’s for a little more than 2 weeks and I have lost 6.8 lbs in that time. It’s a head game for sure.

How far along are u?

Sx sept 6th so, this coming wed will be 12 weeks. Started at 230 and am at 193.2 today.

Ok ok that's great ! I'm sept 21st so little over 10 weeks idk it's a lot slower than I thought. Where are u with calories? How much are u taking in per day?

I would say I average about 900 cal/ day, some days higher or a little lower since 1 week post op. I freak out a little about this bc others here say they didn't go above 600 cals for the first 6mos etc or til goal, but it seems to be working. Log everything i eat on my fitness pal, like you, no bread, pasta, processed foods, sugar. 70-90 g protein, 50 ish in carb and prob 40 in fat. Had been doing a light gym routine a few days a week for 3 weeks but just start crossfit, so may need to change my intake depending on how i feel, recover.

For the most part that's pretty low still I can do about 1300 sometimes more sometimes less but not unhealthy my portion sizes are still smaller but more than in the beginning . It's frustrating

Feeling pretty good. Pretty much able to eat any foods I attempt to eat. Some things sit better than others. Went out of town for Thanksgiving. Visited DC to spend the time NOT focused on cooking/eating. Instead opting to haul my fat (but shrinking) ass around by foot to see all the memorials and museums on the National Mall.

Had a lovely dinner at the Capital Grille steakhouse on Thanksgiving evening. Of course, I could only take a bite of my wife's appetizer (a bleu cheese wedge salad with porkbelly bacon) and could only eat a few ounces of the filet and lobster tail. Ate the leftovers slowly over the next few days. But happily, I came home another five pounds lighter!

Also, bought some souvenir t-shirts and sweatshirts in size XXL (down from a XXXXL) because I really needed new threads. All my clothes are way too big!

Things I welcome:

  • Being able to fit in booths when I visit a restaurant - I had been unable to fit at all for years, needing a table instead.
  • Fitting into smaller clothes and needing to go shopping
  • Being able to walk very VERY far and stand for hours on end without feeling tired/pain in ankles, knees
  • Being able to keep up on brisk walks with my very athletic wife
  • Drinking a pint or two of Guiness (because it is nitrogenated, not carbonated) although only once in a while
  • Having a much more sane relationship with food. I still feel cravings at times, but am physically unable to indulge them. The few times I tried, I thought I would vomit (almost did!)
  • Eating very expensive foods I used to avoid due to price. A single Alaskan King Crab leg provides enough meat for two meals and its very cheap to buy a single leg (although the fishmonger looks at you sideways)
  • Being able to reach every part of my body in the shower for a good solid washin'
  • The extra room in our queen sized bed which used to be too small (arm hanging over the edge while I slept). Now there's plenty of extra room. Slept in a double bed on our trip and it was still roomy enough.
  • Having much more fun in the sack, with a far smaller gut getting in the way of business (and the missus is diggin' that too)
  • How the extra exercise increases "staying power" during the aforementioned boudoir activities
  • How smooth and soft my skin feels - I think the sugar and wheat used to make my skin ruddy and bumpy
  • Snoring is gone (although I still need the CPAP for now)
  • Buying clothes in stores BESIDES DXL and Rochester Big & Tall

Things I miss:

  • Being able to have a cocktail or two before sitting down to a nice meal
  • Especially being able to enjoy fine wine with a nice meal
  • Drinking seltzer and bubbllier beers like Pilseners and such. Also mixers with my booze (i am a straight up or shots guy now i guess)
  • Being able to slake my thirst by gulping down water. Now I have to sip it slowly and that doesn't destroy a thirst the way pounding water once did
  • Baked/goods, crusty bread, croutons - basically crunchy things. I do take a little taste from time to time, but cannot revert to my former starchy insanity
  • Eating lunch with co-workers

I also returned to live performance with my band and had been concerned that smaller stomach meant less vocal capacity. But my first gig after the surgery was 11/18 and the band and I blew DOORS!

It has been amazing noting the change. I have great energy and endurance that I missed for years. It is tough, but worth it. Keep on keepin on September sleevers! You got this!
