    2 weeks post op

You will stall, sometimes for weeks, you will think the surgery hasn't worked for you, you will be anxious and miserable..then the scale will move again. The body drops weight then takes a sec to "reorganize", then will drop weight again. This is totally normal and you will get used to it as time goes on, just stick to your program. Good luck.

    Scared to advance diet

Certain foods will be tricky for different people. Fish (the softest meat) would sit in my chest and give me awful discomfort, chicken salad would pass just fine. You'll have to experiment a little and see what works for you.

Yes, it does get easier. At first, making sure the proteins were moist, not cooked to death, or in a little sauce of some sort helped them go down easier. Now I am 7 mos out and nothing bothers me, i have the restriction, but can eat anything with no problem.

    Excited!!!!!!

Congrats! Get some rest and sip sip sip..
  5. I’m 6months out and honestly feel like I never had surgery other than the limitation. Nothing has bothered me food wise and I have had no issues post op. sw- 230 cw- 175 ht- 5’3”
  6. Lightheaded and shaky and the night sweats, no reflux. That 1st week was rough, but it got a little better each day. Make sure you are staying hydrated right now and the eating will get easier as the swelling in your stomach goes down. Good luck!
  7. Not sure if anyone has mentioned this but as far as eggs go i’ve found the microwave to be the best post op egg cooker. I’m not usually a microwave cooker but the eggs in there come out super moist and soft as opposed to pan cooked where they are dryer and more dense. I make a small omelet just about every day. Spray a little non stick cooking spray in a small bowl and then add your egg concoction. I usually have 2 eggs, feta, spinach or broccoli topped w salsa and maybe guac if I’m feeling it.

    Need to step it up

Honestly, no one will even notice you at planet fitness ( i mean this in a good way ), people are busy doing their own thing. There are all fitness levels/ body types there, thin, obese, geriatrics, teenagers, you name it. Just go, once you break the ice you will feel much more comfortable. But as others have said, weight loss is mostly driven by diet. Im 6 months out and exercise sporadically..so sometimes 3 times a week and then not for 2 weeks. However, i do watch (log) what i eat, and keep my calories below 1200 and continue to lose. SW:230 CW:175
  9. I can relate to what Jess said about feeling a little more vulnerable alone in public, in the past i would go everywhere and anywhere by myself and never think twice...who wants to mess with a 250lb woman. Now things are a bit different, I'm a little more cautious. But overall, this is nothing compared to how much more comfortable I feel in every other situation including small stuff like fitting into my car or into one of those silly attached desk chairs at school.

Is this not working for me

Most of us are going to have bad days, I mean most of us are here bc we have issues with consuming too much food for the wrong reasons. I've eaten the chips and the cookies and a lot of other things I probably shouldn't have in the last 6 months, but I try to get back on the horse the next day. In the past I would let a food "failure" derail my whole program, now i try to forgive myself and do better next meal, next day etc.. In the end I eat very well 90 plus percent of the time, the weight is coming off. This is a learning process, keep striving to do better. You got this :).
  11. Yay!! Congrats Fluffy!! So glad you made it through OK. Wishing you a speedy recovery and i look forward to following your journey.

    Living alone after surgery

I live by myself, did not have anyone stay with me. I made sure my house was prepared for when i got home, fridge prepped, house cleaned, laundry done etc. so I could relax for a few days. A friend stopped over a few days post op and did some minor chores for me (scooping cat litter, dragging garbage bins to the end of the driveway) but i could have done them myself with some discomfort. I was driving 4 days post op, mostly bc i was bored and wanted to get out of the house but I also was in school and had to attend class. The first few days are the worst then you should notice dramatic improvement each day, a week should be plenty as far as having help around. Personally, I would really try to get 2 weeks off of work if you could..i definitely needed it.

    How long till incisions fade?

5 ish months here, mine haven't faded much, main incision is darker than the others. I don't really think of them much though, the weight loss has overshadowed any concern for the scars.

    Hungry

I have been hungry since surgery as well, some people seem to lose hunger post op but it seems more the exception than the rule. The first few weeks post op I recall the hunger being very uncomfortable, like my stomach was trying to eat itself, that has settled down though. Overall, my hunger is much more manageable now than pre-op and I feel much more in control of my choices. In the liquid phase, it's really hard to be full..fluids go right through. Once you get into solid food you will realize the sleeve's full potential. Hang in there, it gets better.

    Recipes, tracking apps

I was on full liquids on day 3 and moved to pureed foods at around 10 days, which is when I could have ricotta. Ricotta kind falls in with yogurt so check with your plan as far as when that is OK to have. I have only used My Fitness Pal..almost continuously for the past year, and have been really pleased with it. Sorry, I wasn't super creative, it was actually nice for me to have simple choices at that stage. Lots of yogurt and soup..lol. Good luck to you!

    Liquid diet depression

I use Garden of Life and Orgain protein powder... organic plant based and dairy based formulas. Cant stand all the artificial junk in most of the shakes out there. You can do this! Good luck!
  19. Like Kim said, it may be based on your pre surgery labs. I was already iron deficient...so along with the iron and vit c I was also put on 2 multivitamins a day Vit D/ Calcium combo twice a day.
  20. I'm not sure exactly what you can have just yet.... but these are some things i had at that stage. Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, soft scrambled eggs, ricotta cheese, soft flaky fish, refried beans, chicken salad. You should also be able to have mashed potatoes, cream of wheat. Good luck.
  21. Hey Creekimp, just curious, how many oz. of meat do you eat at a time? I started at 2 oz and now can usually get 3 oz in at 5 mo. Although 3oz of beef is a little much still compared to chicken/ fish.
  22. Nessy76

    Protein shakes

    Orgain Grass Fed Protein Chocolate.
  23. Yum, that looks great Creekimp! I had 3 oz of mojito lime marinated chicken with 2 oz riced cauliflower...nothing fancy here.
  24. Gas has no appreciable weight...If it did i would be crushed, sitting on my couch in this giant room full of air.
