Cold after surgery

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I had my sleeve on 22nd August, and haven't had any problems since (apart from the usual drinking too quickly, etc). I've been on full liquids since the day after surgery, and start on purees in 3 days.

Since my surgery, I've noticed that I've been really cold, which is unusual for me, as I'm normally the hot person.

I'm feeling healthy in every other way.

Is this usual?

Hi Kiri,
I'm the same way. Any time I begin to lose weight, there's a week or so that I feel like I'm living in an icebox (and I'm in Florida!). It should go away though.

The cold at first is probably from the saline drip. I was constantly freezing in the hospital, because...they were constantly pumping me full of room temperature liquid, UGH. After, it might mean an Iron deficiency -- which makes perfect sense since, uh, you're not eating.

It should even out once your Vitamin intake is better!

Very very common. Just cover up. It will pass. Many posts on this.

Thanks guys. I don't think I have an Iron deficiency as I have haemachromotosis, which keeps my iron levels up. But I did wonder if it was because I'm not eating much. We are still in winter here in New Zealand, so it just means more layers, and more logs on the fire. 😁

I'm glad I did it too, although it takes some adjusting. No, I haven't had any real issues. The first couple of days were pretty awful, but I think that's par for the course. Seem to be getting enough liquid down, and are enjoying all the Soups I'm making.

How about you? All good for you?

I was cold for a year, then my body adjusted. I am normal now. Not hot all the time not cold either.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
