Resources/reading/suggestions preop to hit the ground running?

Recommended Posts

Im hoping to have my surgery in October (will have the date set next week)

Im trying to prepare myself as best as I can so that I can have success after surgery.

Any advice from anyone on things that they did preoperatively or wish they did that would have made the transition easier?

What about books/stickies/reading material ? Any and everything would be greatly appreciated !

Things that helped me before... I watched a lot of videos of ppl's experiences. Scoured the boards and took notes. A book that was recommended somewhere on here before is called: The Emotional First-Aid Kit, etc...and I really enjoyed reading that. https://www.amazon.com/Emotional-First-Aid-Kit-Practical-ebook/dp/B0054RXXS0

What I did otherwise. I got off my Diet Coke which basically owned me. I traded bad habits for better ones. I learned to eat slower, take my time, and be more mindful. I started making better choices. The six months prior helped me tackle some of my food demons, so that by the time my surgery came around, I felt more in control.

Everybody is different, but hopefully some of these things give you an idea. For me, it was tackling the mind-game of the journey.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
