I got my approval this morning and am scheduled for October 19th! No pre-op diet for me - just clear liquids after midnight on the 18th. I'm super excited to start feeling better. I was approved for surgery due to back issues. Insurance agrees it's a better option than back surgery even though I don't qualify though the weight and BMI requirements. I am looking forward to less pain and a better quality of life in the very near future. So thankful to have you all to follow and learn from :).

Finally got my surgery date after 3 years of waiting. Had a band 10 years ago and lost a lot but then after complications gained all the weight back. Getting done on 14th October in the U.K. and can't WAIT! Have to do 3 weeks of slim fast all day and no solids but I know I can do it.

Your prep diet sounds kinda like mine except I have to do 3 weeks of ensure high protein....ya it will be hard but getting the surgery will be well worth it!

ME LOL

19 DAYS TIL PRE-OP

1 MONTH & 5 DAYS TIL SURGERY

October 9!! I was originally supposed to have the bypass done back in May and had everything set up but ran into problems with my insurance last minute. Now that everything is taken care of I have to get another medical clearance and blood work before the big day!

Well I follow so many people on Instagram and see they are all successful and had the sleeve done. I do get nervous of the dumping syndrome. More people I am going to be traveling out of the country more often and there will be so many new foods! I like the fact that you can still do more normal things like take regular pills, etc. I feel that I will always have to explain myself and can't do random things.
But the reasons why I chose RNY was because I do see that people get revisions and would hate that. I would just want to do it once! I also like the it is the "gold standard" and had been done the longest. And of course more weight loss than the sleeve.

Just something that I am thinking about, but I think if I didn't do the RNY, I would regret it!

My surgeon told me to get the sleeve instead of the bypass. He said that you can avoid the frequent dumping syndrome and that in his practice that sleevers lose weight at the same rate as gastrics.

Hello! I am new to the site -- but I am scheduled for RNY on 10-12-2017! Super excited and nervous!

Welcome to our group! I'm pretty certain we're all excited & nervous! Ive noticed lately that the more I overthink it the more scared I get but that's pretty common from what I've read in this forum :)
