How is the recovery going for those who have had surgery I have my 2 week appointment on Wednesday I am super excited to find out what I have lost and to be able to be moved to pureed foods the liquids for the two weeks has been hard but in a way helpful because I caught some bad habits I had never even noticed before

I am one week out day and feeling much better today than even yesterday. I'm actually sitting at my kitchen table catching up on some work from the office. I moved to pureed foods today, and I can already tell a real difference with my energy level. I am looking forward to next week when I move to soft foods!

I've been very blessed thus far with eating and drinking -- nothing has made me sick. I dealt with nausea and gas for several days, but today has been better. Incision pain is also finally getting a little better. I can stand up straight again, and I can get myself out of my recliner.

I've lost 7 pounds since surgery and 21 pounds since I started the pre-op diet. Progress!

Amazing news I am so glad you are already on to pureed foods my Dr insists that we all do 2 weeks liquids sigh I can feel a real lack of energy and some depression when it is dinner time and every one is eating and I am sitting there with my thimble full of Soup lol

It's funny how they're all so different. My doc encouraged me to try scrambled eggs three days out -- I didn't! But I did move to applesauce and very runny oatmeal around three or four days' out. Tonight, I'm going to make chili and then puree it -- looking forward to some meat!

It is crazy how diff everything is the only carbs I get are these first two weeks then I can only have Protein the doctor wants you on strictly protein for the first year that is going to be incredibly hard but I am going to do my best to stick with it I am worried about my bathroom habits I mean not a shred of broccoli or other fibers.

I had surgery on the 19th so I'm on day 4 post-op. I feel like I'm doing well. Lots of gurgles and gas going on and I feel full but also have a desire to chew something so I've been eating frozen sugar free Popsicles. That helps. I never knew there were so many food commercials on TV before this! The head hunger is where I will be working this next week for sure. I'm supposed to stay on Clear Liquids until Wednesday but I did make a watered down Protein Shake today - vanilla with a drop of lemon oil. Tastes very good. All in all I feel good. I am sleeping very well. I do feel a little dizzy today, that's why I added a Protein shake. Looking forward to getting the swelling and bloating out of the way, otherwise so far so good :)

Oh dear - I remember someone posting how to on here and I did it right then LOL. I believe you click on your screen name at the top of the screen and follow the "My ticker" section.....I'll go play with it a bit and see if I see anything else to help you.

It seems you do the same thing - there is a place to edit when you go into the screen you just made it in.....

When you update your Current Weight (My Surgery, then on the left side click Progress to update your weight), the ticker will auto update based on that :)

I will be 1 week out tomorrow, I have been fine for the most part with my recovery. My main site is painful and I worry about possible infection. I have a nurse coming over later this afternoon. It had been giving me a rough go for the last couple days. It helps the most to “walk it off” pain meds don’t do a darn thing to even take the edge off the pain. They do make me sleepy, but the pain is still on full blast at that site spot. I am following the diet from the NUT and it’s very different from other programs and it gets frustrating (in other groups) to explain what I’m drinking and have a bunch of people jump on me ... that gets frustrating. But since I’ve been experiencing some dumping with the Gatorade I was told to drink, I’ve been given the thumbs up to start purées today! I first tried a Premier Protein shake and that was glorious and gave me a nice full feeling. I’m going to eat scrambled eggs for dinner ! I am so excited lol

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
