sugar and spices, two things that don't work well with me post surgery. Good luck!

You need to change your habits and try to really focus on that, your mind shouldn't immediately go to this. Are you able to eat Pork rinds w/ hot sauce?

I agree with the change habits idea in theory.

For myself, I know sugar and spice don't matter. I ate a couple 5cent candies last night. Wasn't an issue at 5 weeks postop.

What you asked was "Can you"... the answer is up to your stomach... "Should you" thats something we all need to find our own answers to...

My dr orders are to stay away from hard candies. The sugar offers no nutritional value at all. I wonder if you could create a protein-based recipe that would have the same flavor? Have you tried sugar free Jello made with unflavored Protein Powder yet? Unjury Protein powder has the recipe in their website. You could make SF watermelon jello with protein powder and sprinkle it with the chili powder, or just mix it in. That way you get the flavor you are craving but in a protein-rich food that fits within your meal plan.

Question is, is it worth it? Just as someone said, you can eat whatever you want, for most of us, that's how we got to the point where the surgery was needed. The consequences, you have to live with. I'd much rather live with the successes of saying no to such things.

You can have spicy items. Maybe sugar candy not the best option. Re fried Beans with chipotle. Yummy.

I don't usually eat candy but I'm on my period and kinda crave it. So is not a trigger for me because I mostly want to lick the chili off of it haha. I will try the watermelon hello!! Any ideas of a good chili powder?

In my opinion, if you are already "cheating" and eating the old way post surgery, then perhaps you were not ready to seriously do this to reclaim your life. Maybe you should go back to counseling to refocus and adjust for this major life change. Remember: No challenge, no change. If you were going to continue down the same path using the same approach, you could have saved your money, time, and expenses by staying like you were. #IJS #IfYouWorkItYouCanWinIt!

I would wait with spicy things as it can irritate the stomach. Wait four weeks at least.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
