Full and bloated

Recommended Posts

I just had my surgery 2 days ago and yesterday I was able to get all of my fluids and no problem. I was walking around every hour and got sent home. Today I woke up feeling super full and bloated. Just by looking at my stomach it's very swollen which I'm sure is to be expected. But I am struggling getting my Water in today. I have been sipping on the little medicine cups but I feel like I'm going to pop. I'm also having an issue with my eyes focusing when I look at my phone or any writing on paper. Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Sounds like gas pain. I wasn't allowed to leave the hospital until I passed gas, which didn't happen until my discharge day. I had the surgery on a Friday and was discharged Sunday and during my stay I walked a lot. Once that happened I felt a lot better and had gas for the next couple of days. Eating and drinking became easier. I am now on day 16 post op and have no problems eating or drinking. My pain level is almost a zero and today I got caught up with the grass mowing and weed wacking with no issues. I would try walking more to get the gas moving and expelled.

Thanks for the advice. My eyes have gotten better but I'm still bloated and full. Turns out I do have gas pains, but only in my stomach. Using Gas X strips and a heating pad, but they just don't want to come out. Hopefully if I keep walking it will start getting better

Hi Fred. I saw that you are a bypass patient and I read that you are eating and drinking with no issues. I had my surgery 6/26 but I am having a hard time with food. It still hurts when I eat stuff and was wondering were you experiencing any of that. Sometimes liquids hurt as well. I know everyone heals differently but this is going into 6 weeks for me and literally scared to eat cause I'm afraid I will hurt

Hello, sorry to hear you're still having issues after 6 weeks. I haven't had any problems eating or drinking but I'm still on the puree stage of my diet. I don't know how long you were told to stay on the puree foods stage but I'm on it for 20 days. Maybe try puree foods for a while and see how you feel, you might not be healed enough for more solid textures but I would call your nutritionist and or your surgeon and let them know you're having discomfort. Best of luck to you.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
