Hi I just want to share with everyone that has Emblemhealth HIP in NY and are going through the requirements, that the supervised weight loss program can be either 6 months weigh ins with your PCP -OR- 3 months with your surgeon. I called and researched and was sent the attached from Emblemhealth. Feel free to print and show your surgeon. I forwarded it to my surgeon and he approved it as well. Just want to make anyone with this insurance aware that you don't have to wait a whole 6 months. On that note, I am having my 3rd visit with my surgeon next week. Hopefully, I can get a date then.

Good luck!! I also had this plan; everything went PRETTY WELL though I had some problems with the particular hospital I wanted to go to. Even that got sorted though, you're going to be golden!!

Thank you. Did you do the 6 months or the 3 months? I just want to get this done already.

I only had to do 3 months, since I did it through a verified Bariatric program! I'm in Yonkers, so I went up to Montefior New Rochelle -- they have a great program, with a great monthly support group as well. I'm not sure quite where you're located, though I think I recognize your face from the NY thread. Queens, maybe?

Yes I'm from Queens. I'm going through my bariatric surgeon hopefully they approve me with 3 months visits to him.

So I had to do the 6 months because they said they'd rather be safe than sorry. If they would have submitted with only 3 months and they deny me then I have to wait another 3 months to resubmit. I finished all my requirements and paperwork was submitted today. Just waiting on approval and Surgery is set for Oct 17th. Wish me luck.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
