Christian bandsters

Phyl - you are so sweet :glare:

I don't have a counselor - just my Christian friends. I've spent a good part of the day in prayer, tears, and listening to praise music. The fog is lifting - there is always Hope for those who are in Christ Jesus.

My DH just scheduled a long weekend away for us so that certainly won't hurt! :Dancing_biggrin:

Hi Everybody,

I am considering the lap band, I am still in the praying stage. I'm glad to find a Christian link. I'm not even sure if it's available in Albuquerque yet, traveling won't work out right now. I wanted to find out how it went to for others so this site will work out well. I'll be in the backgound following everybody's progress until I feel I know what I am supposed to do.

In Christ's Love

Hey Wombat,

I've been attending my church for 17 years. Our Pastor died last feb., and they appointed his wife as our Pastor now. He was a really Godly man, and gave very good practical advice.

One of the best tidbits of advice I heard him give was, when you are feeling down, go to a children's hospital, or find someone worse off than you, and start calling or ministering to them.

It will take your mind off your own problems, and show you how you can help others.

Even if you feel down and depressed, we still are blessed with many blessings. He also advised writing down your blessings.

And, Anne31, LET US KNOW HOW THINGS GO!

I will be praying for BOTH of you.

For Gen....

"Dear Lord, I ask that you lift gen up right now. Wrap your loving arms tight around her. Secure her under your wings of safety. Give her joy today and strength to carry on. Bless her for her faithfulness to you. Allow her to feel your gentleness and happiness today. In Your name I ask, Amen."

Gen, my monthly gave me those same feelings this past weekend!!

If you like to read (and have the time-ha!) I would suggest running to closest Christian bookstore, or wal-mart, and check out the latest books. I'm reading Heaven without Her and it's really lifting my spirits up. Also, just laying all your cares and concerns in prayers and then giving God time to speak to your heart, really listening for Him....is the best cure-all!! I will continue to pray for you!

You guys are wonderful :tt2:

Thank you for all your prayers - my spirits are lifting! I know God is in control and He always wants the best for us.

candy - you are so right. This next week and half is volunteer week at my company. They give us a bunch of choices and allow us 32 hours of free time to go and volunteer. I'm going to a food pantry one day, going to cook and serve at a Ronald McDonald house, and do an afternoon at the SPCA. Serving others always helps put things into perspective!

Coltorismom - I've been praying for you today for your surgery! Please let us know how you are doing when you can. God be with you.

Just a few more hours!! I have to be at the hospital at 5:15 and we live 2.5 hrs away so I'm about to get some sleep. I want to thank all of you for the prayers and thank you in advance for the prayers that are to come. I'm a little nervous, which I guess is normal .. I'm ready for the surgery part to be over and continue the journey to a new life... one I can live out more for our Savior!!

I'm doing ok. Still struggling with moving around due to pain in the incisions but I think I'm done with the gas pain. No problems swallowing. I am hurting in both calves in my legs so I just got back from having an ultrasound done to be sure there are no blood clots. I haven't heard the results yet but feel that it's from the compression devices.

I'm on Clear liquids but not hungry at all. Im having to make myself drink the 48 oz of liquid I need.

If I could get rid of this incision pain.. I'd be wonderful!!

Hello to All,

I haven't posted in ages!! Pray all is well with everyone. Just wanted to share... Dr. Don Colbert (you may have seen him on Joyce Meyer etc.) came to my church in Detroit last week. He ministered on health and food addictions. The main thing that stuck in my heart was John 14:16 & 26. He talked about the Holy Spirit being our COMFORTER!! Why do we/I always use food as comfort instead of the HOLY GHOST???!!! He is our COMFORTER and is not fatteneing or unhealthy:smile:! I am going to purpose to do this in my life and I hope this little tidbit encourages, uplifts, and edifies you as well!!!

Peace & Blessings!

PS. Still haven't been banded... in insurance waiting period (limbo). Went to the Dr. last week and had lost 5 lbs! The nurse to me to "STOP IT!" Thats the first time in my life someone told me to stop losing weight! Isn't that hilarious?!!?

yes it is funny to have them tell you stop losing! But, i would think if they have a documented weight already it would be okay to start losing. when i was going through all the waiting stage, i went on some eating binges, so i gained, THEN lost when i went on the liquid diet pre-surgery.

Savedbygrace -- no more gas pains? mine lasted almost three weeks! Glad to hear you are doing so well! The having to make yourself drink after surgery is normal. i remember being so NOT hungry the first few days after surgery! Glad to hear from you.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
