Christian bandsters

Hi numbrgirl,

I was just reading in my "New Day, New You" from Joyce Meyer and she was saying the same thing as you about serrending to God. It just confirm what you were saying. I realize I have a hard time doing that and it's as if I didn't how. I'm a do"er", if something as to change I have to work at it. Teachers are like that a lot :wink2: and Moms too. I have to remind me to let go and the only thing I can do is pray. Thank you for the advice.

I think we all have a hard time with surrendering. It seems like we want to just exhaust every avenue, get frustrated, disappointed and totally burned out before we get a "duh" moment and remember that the Bible tells us to cast all our cares onto him, surrender to him, and in doing so make our burden so much lighter. This band has been a valuable tool but there is still some surrendering and relinquishing of control that needs to go on in order for it to work properly.

I keep my hope placed in Him.

Continued best wishes to everyone in their act of surrender!! LOL.

Surrender is the message I needed right now. I am at a crossroads. I am not losing, just maintaining and I still have 50 pounds to lose. I think I am doing what I should, except for the surrendering part! I am ready to give up on my band. I am working it but it is failing me. Or am I failing myself? I am going to let go and let God take over. Please pray for me as I am in a struggle. My DH is always complaining about my not eating. I can't seem to get nearly enough Protein or Water in, but I am only eating healthy foods. The band is definitely not the easy way out. Please pray for me. Thanks.

Glammaw, I want to add one thing to the response I made on another thread. You sound like you suffer from depression. Part of surrendering to God is admitting you have it and getting help and taking meds. I had to do it at various times in my life. The band was also a way to surrender to God. We Christian women often choose to be victims. God never intended that.

Can you possibly stand back and do an objective evaluation of every part of your life with the band? Sometimes that is a useful and productive way to make some changes or corrections. You obviously know the band can work - especially in light of your tremendous weight loss. I wouldn't say the band is failing or you are failing - I would say maybe it is stalled..... Sometimes our bodies get so used the same routine, same intake of food, etc. that it needs to be surprised a bit. Maybe try to add different exercise and more Protein supplements. I hate to see anyone seemingly give up especially when there is so much more potential. I pray that the Lord give you some insight into the best way for you to proceed.

Hello all,

I'm going to be banded on September 30th if everything goes according. I believe God definitly does things in His perfect way, but only through our submission. Do not be discouraged and pray it always makes things easier.

Glad to be here!!

Thank you for the suggestions and for the prayer. I am looking at ways to increase my protein and do at least a little more exercise. I am praying that shaking things up a bit will help with the weightloss. I appreciate your response and good thoughts.

Hey All...

I am a Christian and would love to join this thread. I am being banded next Weds, Oct 31.

I am nervous and would appreciate any of your thoughts on doing this, from a Christian perspective. Obvioulsy, the Bible doesn't say anything about Lap-Band Surgery!!!

Any thoughts, encouragement from a biblical perspective?

Thanks and God bless you.

Ginny

being banded 10/31

34 BMI

220, 5'8"

Hoping to say goodbye to 25 years of YO YOing!!!!

Hey,

I am new to this site and wanted to see how someone else is doing after having surgery in 2007.

I haven't lost much so a little discouraged.

I had an overfill in Jan. 2009 so they took all of saline out.. So I had to start all over!! I am about the same height and weight you had posted and wanted to see how you have done..

Please reply..

Thank you

I am 5'9" starting weight 237. I'm down to 204 was banded June 18. I really watch what I eat since I don't yet have a lot of restriction. I stick to high Protein before adding a few veggies and fruit and complex carbs. No crap hardly unless I plan for it if I know I'm going to a special event. Hi,

I was banded in July '07. Had my 2 yr checkup a few days ago and dr. was very pleased with my progress. I am 5' tall, started with BMI almost 64, now down to 40.8, I think. Are you at a point of good restriction now? What are you eating? Any exercise? Don't get discouraged! YOU CAN DO THIS!

If there are any Christians out there who are looking for special support during this time I thought we could start a thread related to this. It might help with those thoughts and doubts as to if this is the right thing we are doing or any other 'shares' that might come to mind. I could use some at this time in my walk.

Sister in Christ,

Valerie

THIS IS A GOOD IDEA. WHEN I FIRST DECIDED TO HAVE THIS DONE, I PRAYED ABOUT IT. I HAD OPEN HEART SURGERY IN 2003, I AM A DIABETIC, HAVE A BAD HIP AND HAVE BEEN BIG MOST OF MY LIFE. I AM 60 , A YOUNG 60 THOUGH.LOL..WHEN I DECIDED TO DO THIS, I SAT MY 2 GROWN KIDS DOWN AND TOLD THEM I WAS GOING TO DO IT, THST I KNEW IT WAS A RISK WITH MY HEALTH, BUT IF I DID NOT DO IT, I MAY NOT BE AROUND MUCH LONGER AMYWAY. THEY DID AND HAVE SUPPORTED ME. I HAD THIS DONE IN FEB AND HAVE LOST 50 POUNDS AND SEVERAL SIZES. BUT MOST OF ALL I FEEL SOOOO MUCH BETTER, I AM OFF OF SEVERAL MED'S AND HAVE CUT MY INSULIN DOWN FROM 70 UNITS TWICE A DAY TO 20 TWICE A DAY. I COULD LOOSE MORE IF I COULD EXCERCISE, BUT THE HIP WONT LET ME. I AM VERY GLAD I DID THIS AND WOULD ENCOURAGE ANYONE TO DO IT. IT IS THE BEST THING THAT I HAVE EVER DONE.

Congrats on your progress, Dee!

You're doing GREAT!!

Keep up the good work.

I have difficulty with exercise, too... need both knees replaced. But I've been able to do Water aerobics during the winter (we go south in our RV) and Wii/Wii Fit when I'm at home. Getting one knee done in 10 days (Aug. 25), and would appreciate all your prayers. God Bless!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
