Ok I'm sure this is normal right but just wanted to ask...

I am 11 days post operatively and I am still having trouble getting all my liquids in. I can drink thin liquids no problem but with my Protein Shakes I have a hard time. The first day I tried to have a Protein Shake - which was blended - I thought I was going to die! I figured out that the foam from the shake was a NO GO! It took me about 6 hours to drink that after the gas had died down from it.

Two nights ago my husband made a red lentil Soup for me which was pretty thin...I had about 3 spoonfuls and almost died (well not died, but felt pretty close). I thought I was going to throw up but nothing happened, after about 1 hour the feeling went away...

Now a few days later it still is taking me hours to drink my shakes from the blender cup as after a few sips I have a lot of gas inside / belching. Once I get that gas feeling it hurts and if I persist, it spreads into my chest becomes sharp and feels like a heart attack (hence, the I'm going to die feeling) and I have to wait until it passes. Once a few belches come up then the feeling subsides and I can usually proceed but I don't as I don't enjoy the feeling. I don't really feel a restriction per say just this gassy feeling. Anyone else experiencing this??? This too shall pass right???

I'm POD8 today and I'm currently able to drink full liquids at about 4oz/hr. I was having a very hard time the first few days where it would take 3hrs to drink 4oz, and since it took so long it cut into the amount of time I had to drink Water. There is a concentrated Protein Syrup that I purchased called Prostat which is 15g protein, 100cals, 0 sugar. It's clear with no dairy and was pretty easy to digest. It was easier to meet my protein goals since it's such a concentrated dose (1oz), and I found I was able to spend more time on drinking fluids. I'm just taking it once a day now to bump up my protein count, but it was really helpful for the first 4 days after surgery. Just thought I'd pass this info along. Hang in there.. hopefully it'll get better for you soon!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
