We were not able to shower that soon, so I didn't bother to take "products". Do you use a cpap machine? If you do, we were told to bring them. I also brought sweats to wear home. I wish I would have brought a book or something to keep me busy--Lord know I didn't get any sleep there! Other than the robe and slippers...you are set. Good luck--you will be in our thoughts on the 26th!

Make sure you take a pillow to put hold to your tummy when getting up and down for a few days it really helps getting out of bed and in and out of the car and for the bumps on the way home!!! My muscles were my worst enemy for the first 5 days.

Woo hoo I got on the scale at the Y today and was down 1 1/2 pounds!!! I am soooooo happy!!

The best thing I took was Chloraseptic Spray for my sore throat!! I took a book and a little electronic game and things but really didn't use them. I could have been fine with just my tooth brush, toothpaste, hairbrush, deodorant. I had an IV hooked up and things that made not wanting to put a robe on a hassle so I didn't put one on, just made sure the back was tied up good on the hospital gown and wore the slipper socks with treads they issue to you when you go in.

Can't believe its already 1 week since I was banded!!

P.S. Splurged on a pedicure today and took off the green nail polish on my toes! and that poor nail technician about had a heart attack when she saw that green polish!!! I have a weird sense of humor at times...

Wow, Tyanna, 60 lbs is great! Think how much more fun this summer is going to be having lost all of that weight!!! Keep up the good work!

Kathy, I think the green polish was cute! It was a reminder of all of the hard work and prayers that have got you this far, and the pot of gold at the end of that rainbow!!!

Good luck tomorrow!!!!!

Well - I went in this weekend for my 2nd fill. I was down about 41 lbs since being banded in January. I thought I was doing so well ... I've been fighting a cold -so in the evenings, I'm really just not very hungry. I was having a yogurt, hard boiled egg, just something little.

I was told - I wasn't eating enough! I was told - I need to make sure I eat a dinner at night. What a bummer ... I have put 2.5 lbs back on since adding chicken/vegetable to my diet in the evening! I know it will come right back off, but what a shock.

Not sure if I'll make the April meeting (we're supposed to be in Indiana) .. but definately will not make the May meeting (I'll be in Europe). I will try to get to the fashion show to catch up with you guys.

Glad to hear that everyone is doing well.

Hi gang,

Just thought I'd put a little shout out there too.

Niki, Special K, Hippie, I hope you are all feeling great!

Mrod-I'm thinking about you!

I know Turler is pending. Who else out there has a surgery date?

The weather is slowly getting warmer. I'm hoping with being able to get outside I'll be able to get pick up the weight loss pace. It is very slowly coming off now. But it is still trending downward, so I can't complain.

Where at Polaris is the fashion show happening? In front of JC Penney's? Isn't that where Santa sets up and they have rotating events?

Smiles!

Ahhhh, I hope you can make the fashion show... we'll miss you at the meeting if you can't make it this month. When is the trip to Europe?

I'm not sure where it's happening, my daughter thinks it might be down stairs by that store that is a doll nursery... outside of Saxs? She said she's seen chairs and runways set up there before. SpecialK might know more when she finds out the time for us.

I am so happy that spring seems to be trying to come out and play. I am so sick of winter I can't stand it!!!!!

Just updating that the Mt. Carmel Bariatric Style Show is at TUTTLE MALL not Polaris mall on April 12th from 2-4pm in front of the Macy's entrance at the Hayden Run side. I've posted under the Central Ohio Get Together the same info so we hopefully don't leave anyone stranded sitting at Polaris that day. Thanks and hope you'll enjoy it. I was told last year's show was really inspirational to see how far those patients have come - the mall stores help dress and do makeup on the 'new' looks for the patients.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
