Surgery Scheduled: May 12th, 2017

Recommended Posts

Hello!

Was searching around the Internet last Friday when I happened across this site. I'm so glad I did! Since then, I've spent hours reading posts, writing down tips, and generally putting my mind to rest over my upcoming VSG on May 12th.

I couldn't figure out how to go back and edit things on my profile (starting weight, etc...), so here goes. Would be great to have a buddy to share in the highs and lows of our journey together.

  1. Surgery Date: Friday, May 12th
  2. Location: StarMedica Hospital, Juarez, Mexico
  3. Surgeons: Dr. Jose Rodriguez-Villarreal & Dr. Elmo Aramburo
  4. Funding: Self-Pay

My only main concern at the moment is travel. My husband is travelling with me from our home in New Hampshire to El Paso, TX (via Atlanta). This doesn't worry me for the outward journey, but am a little concerned about spending 8+ hours traveling 2 days after my procedure. Has anyone had a similar experience and is able to offer any advice?

Welcome @Bri_Guy! I love this sight. There are ups and downs with a few people but in general, it's been very informative here. Congrats on your upcoming surgery as well. I'm May 15th in the states. Sorry I can't help ya on the travel issue but I'm sure someone here can surely give you an update on it. Many fly back after surgery so all I can say is, I think you'll be fine as well. Blessings to you hon on your journey!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
