Today I am 2 weeks post op and I walked ONE mile. I thought about quitting at 1/2 mile but realized my legs didn't hurt. I wasn't sweating like a pig. I wasn't dying to breathe. I am now sitting in my car tearing up bc I walked ONE mile. This surgery is saving my life and I am so grateful.

That is so wonderful!! Congratulations!! Yes, this surgery has changed my life too. I have so much more hope and excitement about the future.

This weekend I did something similar. I'm almost at 6 months out and I now walk between 5 and 7 miles a day. I decided this last weekend to try my hand at hiking. I hiked 10 miles up and down steep terrain and had a MARVELOUS time. It was so amazing to feel so active and alive, healthy and free. I did the hike alone as I didn't want people seeing me struggle. Oh how wrong I was!! I didn't struggle at all! It was phenomenal and I'm still on the high from it. I'm doing it again next weekend. I can't wait!

I am looking for good walking shoes. My feet hurt so bad, it makes walking painful. Does anyone have any suggestions on types or brands of walking shoes to buy?

I am currently wearing sketchers light weights bc my heels always hurt before surgery and they are cushioned for that. But now I think I might go shopping for a true walking shoe.

New Balance has the best shoes for overweight people getting back into walking, IMO.

Here's a link listing a whole bunch:

I finally went to a store that really fit shoes and found out they carried a New Balance line that was so much more supportive than the ones I'd been buying off the shelf. They do cost more but the difference in support was unbelievable.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
